The John G. Wood (JGW) School at Virginia Home for Boys & Girls is a therapeutic, alternative school serving adolescents and early childhood. We serve VHBG Residential and Day students with significant Social-Emotional Deficits, Poor Impulse-Control, Emotional Disturbances, Moderate Intellectual Disabilities, Learning Disabilities, Excessive Hyperactivity, as well as other behaviors that impact a student’s ability to be successful in a public school environment. We are seeking licensed educational professionals in the following positions:
- Special Education Teachers (K-5) or (K-12)
Professional or Provisional License in Core Subject Area; At least three years of experience, supporting adolescents or young adults.
Masters’ degree from an accredited University or College in the field of Education, Special Education and/or another related Education Degree; At least three years of experience, supporting adolescents or young adults who have identified special education needs or identified with behavioral deficits.
Responsibilities include developing, administering, and implementing projects, activities, and services that impact integrating experiential learning experiences with SOL standards.
