Virginia Home for Boys and Girls (VHBG) is a nonprofit organization that exists to support the needs of children who are challenged by serious social, emotional, behavioral and mental health issues. On our secluded 44 acre campus in western Henrico we provide group home care and alternative education services at our John G. Wood School. These two programs are supported by our Clinical and Community-Based Services division, providing personalized therapeutic interventions to our residents, students and families both on campus and in the community. VHBG is seeking a Marketing and Community Engagement Coordinator to develop and implement our marketing, public relations, community event planning activities, and to manage our volunteer requests and/or projects. This position is responsible for overseeing the coordination and implementation of community events on and off campus, as well as responsible for building relationships with media professionals.
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, Communications or related field required; must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, be self-directed, and possess strong follow-through traits. Must maintain a professional appearance. Two years of hands-on experience in marketing, PR or related field preferred. Nonprofit experience preferred. Physical guidelines include ability to lift up to 25 pounds; stand/walk for up to eight hours/day, bend, stoop, twist. Must be able to work at a computer for up to eight hours per day.
1.Assists with and provides input into the development of departmental or program specific marketing plans, including the development of public relations activities that are in line with the goals and objectives of specific departments.
2.Ensuring consistency of tone, message and graphic representation of the VHBG brand across all agency communications.
3.Managing production of collateral materials, including VHBG newsletter (3x/year), agency overview pieces and Annual Report.
4.Managing weekly internal communication from President’s Office.
5.Oversees, updates and manages content of web site and social media channels.
6.Supports the Philanthropy department’s need for event management, including coordination of volunteer committees, managing third party vendors/contractors, managing budgets and timelines, sponsor solicitation, and other logistics as necessary.
7.Primary responsibility for coordinating all agency events, including community outreach, on- and off-campus events, and vendor fairs. This responsibility includes:
a.preparing promotional plans and budgets for events;
b.coordinating advertising, publicity, and internal and external communications with VHBG events and programs;
c.engaging employee support of and participation in events; and
d.procuring and maintaining collateral materials as necessary such as displays, t-shirts,
door prizes, and novelties.
8.Maintaining cooperative relationships with traditional media outlets, such as television, radio, print.
9.The Marketing and Community Engagement Coordinator projects a positive image of all aspects of VHBG in the community.
10.Performs other tasks as assigned.
