Virtus is going through growing pains. It has not established a great management team. Morale is low and job turnover high. Support from management is poor. Nepotism is high.

The atmosphere is pretty laid back but communication between management and employees is lacking. I think is a good place to gain experince. Pay is low for the amount of work to be done.
Pros
Free breakfast, plenty of chances to work more hours
Cons
Human resources, no clear way to understand hierchy

Associate Director - Business Analyst (Current Employee) –  Houston, TXMay 2, 2017
Work day is stressful due to overload on work load. The opportunity to learn new things each day as a Business Analyst is very good. The job itself is very enjoyable. Management is really poor and the culture of the company detracts from a healthy work/life balance. Compensation is below average and bonus' and raises are dismal. They do provide free food from time to time.
Pros
Learning opportunity is great
Cons
Management is really poor and pay is below average

Total chaos!! horrible management and no money or growth
Current employee (Current Employee) –  Houston, TXOctober 5, 2016
You will be prefered if you have BNY mellon or Jp morgan on your CV. More if your a BNY mellon past employee.

Go casually dressed for the interview as you will feel uncomfortable if you turn up in corporate dress with a blazer with your interviewers are in jeans and flipflops.

CHRO is a power trip, very rude and unprofessional..no power with friendly senior directors or hiring managers. pay 35% less than market rate. Give joining date further than you would want to join.

easy interviews more of chit chat sessions. No technical questions.

Offices have no cubicles but rows of desks and chairs
very casual work culture, lax , unprofessional. Not a typical investbanking culture that you would expect. Overseas bpos have better dress code and culture.

poor benefits and performance appraisal eligibility upon completion of 12 months with bonus in april. so if you join after april you will have to wait forever or approx more than 18 months to get a raise alone leave the bonus.

big job titles that sound good but actually you have to replace the word director with lead/managers.

Most lower level jobs are part time contractual ones because otherwise no one is willing to work like a slave without overtime. slightly better if you are associate director and above.
Pros
work from home once a week after 6 months.
Cons
no overtime, bad management esp HR

Management does not value employees nor care about life outside work. Pay is ok at best and no room for growth nor does management value your opinion and at times can be condescending and rude. Also you pay and arm and a leg for health insurance.
Pros
you get a paycheck
Cons
Everything else

Total Chaos!!!!!
Human Resources Administrator (Former Employee) –  Houston, TXMarch 16, 2016
Typical day to day processes in HR are unknown. You never know what to expect. Be prepared to be micromanaged and spend at least 10 hours a day working on projects that will never be approved. Once you give all of your ideas be prepared to be demoted with a $9,000 pay cut....you may get lucky to receive your job description when you are hired. Then again....you may not! Sad company...huge turnover, poor executive level management, family owned, huge conflict of interest issues. Do not trust anyone, managers go back and tell other mangers what you report.
Pros
Benefits, food, nice office
Cons
Chro, HR department unorganized and inconsistent, High turnover, No policies and procedures in place for any departments, They wing everything
