Position Summary:

This position is a dynamic position that requires planning, action, review, teamwork, documentation, and communication with developmentally disabled (DD) and non DD personnel. The interaction with the Owner, who is a person with a developmental disability, and the other DD staff require a coaching and mentoring approach. We promote an atmosphere of helping and assisting to make wise decisions and to learn from their mistakes, not an atmosphere of authority exerted by the Mentor. Therefore, this position requires patience, understanding, and socratic teaching approach. The Mentor will help with driving and production while maintaining a safe environment.

The Shredding Mentor will also be responsible for marketing and sales.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:

Production

  • Operate and drive a 26 foot box truck, CDL operator’s license is not required. On-site shredding jobs are done in and around the Miami Valley area.
  • Take shredded paper to the recycling center and assist staff in unloading.
  • Assist Owner and staff while at customers’ locations. This may include: conversations with the contact person; unloading consoles and putting in a new bag; loading boxes/bags of paper into truck; weighing and documenting documents prior to destruction; completing appropriate paperwork; assuring customers’ documents are handled in the safest and most secure manner at all times; monitoring shredding process so that tasks are completed in the most efficient and timely manner; ensuring that staff are working in a safe manner, which includes working with the truck lift gate, all equipment, and pedestrian safety.
  • Assist Owner and staff while shredding at company warehouse. This may include: loading boxes/bags of paper into truck; weight and documenting documents prior to destruction; completing appropriate paperwork; assuring customers’ documents are handled in the safest and most secure manner at all times; monitoring shredding process so that tasks are completed in the most efficient and timely manner; ensuring that staff are working in a safe manner, which includes working with the truck lift gate, all equipment, and pedestrian safety.
  • Must be available other days of the week, including weekends, for community shreds or to meet customer schedules.

Marketing and Sales

  • Responsible for assuring the Company has the correct marketing materials available.
  • Assist owner in making sales calls, both scheduled and non-scheduled.
  • Provide potential customers with quotes.
  • Follow-up with potential customers.
  • Communicate through written documentation sales calls made, quotes delivered, status of potential new customers.
  • Assist owner with involvement in networking (Chamber After Hours; network group)
  • Assure positive customer service and relationships

The right candidate must be at least 18 years of age, have a valid Ohio drivers license, be able to pass the Nurses Aid Registry, Abuser Registry. Candidate must also be willing to take a pre-employment drug screen, physical examination by a doctor of the company's choice and get certified in First Aid and CPR.

Work schedule is 4 days a week; approximately 25 hours.
