The Functional Analyst bridges the gap between client subject matter experts (SMEs) and the software development team. This hands-on position will require functional analyst and project management skills. A successful candidate will be able to work in a team environment, capture, consolidate, document, and communicate SME business requirements and express them to the development team while managing portions of the larger project and a small team. Communication, presentation, and relationship building skills are required. Likely candidates will also be able to support organizational growth & transformation in areas important to the team and consistently meet or exceed expectations with regard to any client/stakeholder requirements and/or tasks.

PROJECT RELATED COMPETENCIES

Analysis & Solution Definition

  • Can understand the business issues and data challenges of client's organization and industry
  • Able to identify client organization's strengths and weaknesses and able to suggests areas of improvement
  • Capture, consolidate, communicate, translate, and articulate SME specific business rules, business processes, and functional requirements.
  • Participate in SME requirements and data gathering Joint Application Development (JAD) sessions and attend ad-hoc meetings with project stakeholders
  • Conduct gap analysis and resolve requirements discontinuity
  • Create wireframes, use cases, business process flows, activity diagrams and other illustrations using MS Visio
  • Manage and construct System Requirements Specification (SRS) documents, Meeting Minutes, Level of Effort (Impact) Assessments, System Change Requests, User Guides, and MS PowerPoint presentations.

Technical Recommendation & Testing

  • Able to support testing efforts through the use of test scripts
  • Manage and track SRS and web application related issues via Microsoft SharePoint Portal
  • Ensures issues are identified, tracked, reported on and resolved in a timely manner
  • Works with client personnel to identify required changes
  • Communicates needed changes to development team
  • Version control related tasks to include updating and managing files via Subversion (a version control repository used to manage files and the changes made to them over time)
  • HTML knowledge in order to manage (create/edit) help files
  • Participate in usability testing tasks to include collecting quantitative & qualitative data to measure various aspects of usability while establishing benchmarks & measurements of usability success or failure

  • Takes input from supervisor and appropriately and accurately applies comments/feedback
  • Communicates and applies project standards
  • Manages resources in accordance with project schedule

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or computer science or 5+ years of software development consulting experience
  • A minimum of 3+ years of functional analyst experience
  • Familiarity with Documentum
  • Familiarity with PeopleSoft products
  • Familiarity with Maximo
  • Familiarity with the BABOK® framework helpful
  • Knowledge of project management processes and demonstrable project management skills
  • Familiarity with the concepts of the SDLC
  • Proficiency in the use of common business tools: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project
  • Familiarity with basic HTML programming helpful
  • Strong analytical, planning, problem solving, and organizational skills
  • US Citizenship REQUIRED
