Sales Driven Position Learned Aspects of Small Business
Assistant Store Manager, Interm Store Manager (Current Employee) – Jackson, NJ – March 14, 2014
Vitamin World is a fun place to work but has a lot of short comings. The knowledge I have learned in my time working here has been great, as well as learning how to control business in a small volume store. With a average staff of only 4 people each associate gets a good amount of management experience and you get to know your coworkers pretty well. The down side to working here is despite the stores being lower volume high sales numbers are always required and you can be terminated for not making them regardless of the circumstances. The other major downside to working here is the lack of room to move up in the company. There are very few store manager positions for anyone to move into and if you are able to move into that position you are even more limited in your growth. I do enjoy being able to help people better their heath and help them attain goals, whether its losing weight, getting certain health requirements in check its definitely a good experience.
Retail Manager (Current Employee) – Guam – October 17, 2017
This is not just a retail job, you have to HAVE the desire to learn about overall health, conditions, basic medication contraindications, latest fitness trends, and overall desire to want to help people in their quest for a healthier life style.
Customer Service is top priority and essential. Everyone thinks that what we do is easy but it's not. You need to learn all the products on top of retail operations.
I love what I do. Being able to see a regular customers transformation journey for the better and knowing that you had a role.
Assistant Manager (Current Employee) – Washington State – October 13, 2017
I used this job as a means to an end. In the Tulalip store it was a constant fight for sales, and no one got along with each other. In other stores where sales weren't so high, it was more enjoyable to work because there wasn't stress between associates and there was no money involved.
Manager (Former Employee) – Moline, IL – October 11, 2017
A typical day, as a store manager, consisted of picking up the bank deposit, balancing the cash drawer, identifying customer needs and recommending the appropriate products, scheduling employee workflow, training, mentoring and coaching employees.
Engaging with customers was the most enjoyable aspect of my job.
Store Manager (Current Employee) – Branson, MO – September 22, 2017
Vitamin World is a company that will teach you important skills for your future. Mostly, you learn the importance of time management. There is much to do in a short period of time. We, as store managers, work by ourselves most of the time. This means we must balance working the sales floor as well as taking care of all operational duties. Multi-tasking is of the utmost importance.

A typical day at work is usual fun and productive. I have learned how to open and close a shift all in one shift while managing and servicing customers. The most enjoyable part of the job is the sales oppurtunities with customers selling them natural supplementation in order to better their lives.
Assistant Store Manager (Former Employee) – Mankato, MN – July 29, 2017
This job provides the opportunity to learn about supplements and how they can serve a purpose in the health. People will come to you with many different questions and ailments, some looking for education on supplements and others hoping that you can provide them with something that will actually work. This job can be very rewarding if you like to help people and are willing to research and learn about the products.
