RN Case Manager, Waterbury, CT - December 27, 2016
When I worked there we used written documentation. Now they are using computers to document and I understand it is an easier system. Working there literally taught me patient management. I needed to call insurance nurse managers if patients required more nurse visits or nurse aide visits. It was very involved but worthwhile. Discharge planning started immediately so that goals were made and met timely within insurance guidelines. There are times when it is necessary to send a patient from their home to the hospital and there are times (not often) when a social worker needs to be called and a patient is deemed unsafe at home and we need to implement home living changes. This is a very rewarding job for the caring, experienced nurse. I loved this job. The hardest part is time management and getting home at a decent time every day. This company has now merged with Hartford Healthcare.
