Good work experience
Habilitation Specialist (Former Employee), Cleveland, OHJune 13, 2014
Pros: teaching
Cons: no change
I would get to work at 7:00am to work with special needs adolescents I would help them with there motor skills, listen to music take them on field trips, arts and crafts ,dancing reading and teaching the students a variety of things. My supervisor was the best she was a newly wed and was full of life that taught me how to multi task numerous things. – more... The hardest part of the job was knowing that the students situation would not change but it was very rewarding to be a part of putting a smile on the students faces – less

Student (Current Employee), Painesville, OHDecember 19, 2012
Pros: kitchen to store food, friendly amtosphere
Cons: short breaks
At VGS all the counslers and instructors are experineced in their fieilds. They provide clerical , janitorial traning , mock interviews with real companies. A few other things that make VGS a safe place to work is they have a bell installed so they can hear people coming and going.

Not such a great place if you have talent
Job Coach (Former Employee), Columbus, OHSeptember 1, 2012
Pros: decent entry-level role
Cons: supervisory rigidness; if you're talented, you'll be limited and underchallenged; low wages
I worked for this "overimportant" agency as a part-time Job Coach, and believe I was limited by management insofar as teaching/coaching creativity is (was) concerned (I felt somewhat micro-managed). Also, even though I am (was) qualified to do work in other areas, other than just community-based job training, they had no interest at all in the notion – more... of advancement, or giving me more responsibility. So, if you're young and looking to build your resume a bit, my advice would be to stay away. You can easily find more progressive, liberal agencies in social services, not to mention better paying positions. – less

Custodian-promot Soap Department Manufacturing (Former Employee), Elyria, OHJuly 9, 2012
Pros: occaisonal cook outs
Cons: no career advancement, unsafe work area's, building not up to safety specs
There good at hiring and helping people with disabilities. Not a drug free Environment.Building has safety issues that should be taking into action example down in basement part of building pieces of concrete around window cracking and have known to fall luckily not around when employees are near by. Freight Elevator holds water when it rains hard

Building Maintenance, For me it needed to more indepth.
Building Maintenance Training (Former Employee), Class room, Some hands onMarch 9, 2012
Pros: they did the best they could with what they had.
Cons: for building maintenance, not enough training, too limited.
I've been doing this type of work on and off for years and what I was hoping for was to be able to build on and update what I already knew, to help me get a better job. I don't feel that I got what I needing. I needed paper work to show that I knew what I was doing and a currant reference. Everyone needs paper work now days. I don't feel it was not – more... enough to help me to get a job in this field. Not enough hands on. – less
