Volt Information Sciences generates most of its sales by offering temporary and permanent employees to 10,000 clients in 55 countries through more than 200 branch and on-site offices throughout Asia, Europe, and North and South America. Volt's staffing segment also includes businesses that provide – more... project management and information technology services ( VMC Consulting) and outsourced procurement services (ProcureStaff Technologies). In addition, the company provides telecommunications network engineering and construction services, as well as information systems, including directory assistance systems. The founding Shaw family owns a controlling stake in Volt.
In 2011 Volt was delisted from the New York Stock Exchange for not filing its 2009 10-K and its 2010 quarterly statements. It is now trading over-the-counter. Unhappy over potential financial mismanagement of the company, investors in 2012 launched an investigation of certain officers and directors at related to the firm's ongoing inability to file financial documents.
Meanwhile Volt continues its review of financial statements for fiscal years 2005 to 2008 to correct errors in its accounting. In 2012 it installed new executive leadership and stated that it is focused on completing its financial restatement process.
