Daily care for a elderly lady in her private home.
Caregiver (Former Employee), Savannah, GA – May 12, 2013
Pros: room and board, breaks
Cons: at times very frustrating
I took care of an elderly lady who had a stroke. I cooked, cleaned house, and gave her her medicine. I also assisted her nurses when they came. I also took care of her personal care. I learned how to detail meals depending on one's diet and time management. The hardest part was trying to remember certain things after a doctor's visit but I learned quickly. – more... I enjoyed interacting with the family and they were very accomadating. – less

Although its just volunteering I get a great feeling knowing that I helped someone. something I have learned from volunteering is that values and integrity is more important than money.

Teaching Other Homeschooled Children in a Group Setting
Co op Leader (Former Employee), Plano, TX – February 23, 2013
Pros: see my friends, have a strong purpose and mission
Cons: the day can get tiring after the 4th class i teach.
Co-op learning is a group learning experience. Learning to sit quiet when a teacher talks, to not bother your friend, to keep voice down, raise hand to ask question, etc. All the "school" things that people ask about under "Socialization". Co-op provides this thru structured classes that I, as a volunteer, teach along with other parents. Fun, hands – more... on classes like Physics and simple machines, Minecraft STEM, Word Fun, etc. Love working with my friends because we share a common goal of loving our children and teaching them at home. The hardest part is telling a parent their child was not well behaved in my class. The most enjoyable part is being with the kids and seeing them learn. – less

You have to be passionate
In-Home Caregiver (Former Employee), Washington, DC – December 10, 2012
During my experience of work, I learned that there are many different types of personalities. You have people that likes to spend a lot on things that they just want. Then you have some people that like to spend a lot less on the things they need. I like the fact that I can multi -Task and work at a fast past but still follow the guide lines and rules. – more... I like seeing the smiles on the customers face showing that they are satisfied and pleased with the out come and my performance.
Working as a team is the best part of working. Its good to have support. Together we can get the job done. Who can run a business by themselves? The hardest part of the job is getting the job. You must apply yourself, prove or convince why you qualify for the job. if you can handle that part, than you should able handle tasks at the work place. What I'm trying to say here is getting the job is the most challenging. – less

A great way to give back help out and make a positive diffrence
Personal Assistant (Current Employee), Los Angeles, CA – August 17, 2012
Pros: volunteering, giving back and helping others funds my spiritual wealth.
Cons: no financial income, security or benefits.
I perform a wide range of daily tasks for my companions, from grooming to light cleaning, pet care, medication reminders, transportation or just simple companionship whether it's a long walk or talk, a day of retail therapy or relaxation, a trip to super market or an unpleasant procedure. Pay bills, run errands or assistance with limited mobility or – more... a post op patient. Child care or an extra set of hands for a single parent. I've learned a lot of patience and understanding. Losing a companion, or news of remission thus far have been the most life changing eye opening experiences to overcome. I started volunteering for others after I looked after my own father, I saw a lack of real honest, compassion. It gave me a drive that was not financially driven. I enjoy making people smile, feel happy, safe, respected, confident, and loved. – less
