A typical day at work is reading through construction documents, comparing those documents to the VPI bid created by a fellow co-worker, making any necessary changes to that bid, creating a bid form and email including inclusions and exclusions and sending to the customer.
I have learned the ins and outs of several window and door series manufactured by VPI and how to apply that knowledge to create a quote. I have also had to teach that knowledge to fellow co-workers in a weekly class. I have gained a general knowledge of how the windows and doors scheduled, built, and then delivered to job sites.
My co-workers are fantastic! I have made some excellent friends here.
The management is spread extremely thin throughout the plant, so there are times when it is difficult to speak with them and get an idea how your progress is going.
The biggest obstacle is learning everything and then trying to remember it. There is such a large amount of information to obtain, it is extremely intimidating, however through time it becomes second nature.
The most enjoyable part of my day is when I send out a quote on time or early and get a "Thank you" right back from the customer!
