Position Summary:
The Design Engineer will help steer development of an entire line of FAA TSO certified composite floats. This position is an excellent opportunity to take responsibility for the structural design, but also to help create a new manufacturing initiative for Wipaire. Previous experience with FAA certified composites is a plus, but not required.

Position Responsibilities:
1. Designing composite components and assemblies based upon industry best practices
2. Developing manufacturing methods that will result in efficient composite production
3. Helping to determine facility layout and equipment to begin internal production
4. Overseeing engineering aspects of composite manufacturing facility startup, working with the production group to integrate composite manufacturing processes into existing FAA approved production processes, including recommendations on changes and additions to quality control manuals
5. Working with internal and external resources to oversee the contstruction of protype and production composite tooling
6. Working with Wipaire DERs to provide and support solutions for FAA approved design and material control requirements
7. Advising the design group with layup schedule and design recommendations based on stress analysis calculations
8. Working with the manufacturing team to produce prototype and production composite parts and assemblies in accordance with approved specifications

Qualifications/knowledge, skills, abilities:
Bachelors of Science in Engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, etc) with 5+ years of composite component design experience

Experience in performing composite stress analysis (FEA and classical analysis)

Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and project management skills
