From the time I started my own journey in public schools I always knew I wanted to teach. I began teaching fourth grade in a rural school, then moved on to teach fifth grade, title reading and sixth grade social studies at different times in a larger district.
My current district has earned distinctions in education for the state of Missouri. Over 27 years I've seen education grow to incorporate technology. In the process I adapted to many changes.
I view myself as an individual who not only loves to teach but one who wants to continue to learn. Being part of the educational process was not only a 'job', this was an integral part of my life. In twenty-seven years there were few days I woke up dreading to go to work. This profession has been fulfilling and enriching to me. I love the classroom, students and the challenges that come with this career.
At this time I am retired but worked a 550 position for the district. My position has recently been cut and I am searching for a new career to use my skills. My life goal was to never be 'retired' but to stay engaged in meaningful work experiences.
