Most days were simply signing into computer system, typing doctors' dictation, first in, first out, unless stat dictations for surgery or transfer. Frequent interaction with doctors, especially for special dictation requests. Daily interaction with other medical records staff and nurses. In addition, I was set up at home for on-call dictation when not at work in the hospital.
Most difficult part of the job was in the beginning, learning doctor's individual dictation styles and accents. Most rewarding was being able to quickly handle stat dictations and get the report where it needed to be in a hurry.
