Rail Operations Central Control Supervisor, Washington, DC - July 16, 2015
A typical day at work is chaos amplified by blatant divisions and animosities in the work-force. Teamwork is not what you will find at this company. The internal relationships needed to get the job done are non-existent or severely strained. I have never seen such division in departments as I had seen at WMATA. The company portrays this false image that safety is first, and I can tell you from experience, it is not. The company is so caught up on trains running on schedule that everything else takes a back seat. This compiled with outdated computer systems, a decaying and saturated rail system, trainers who have never worked the position they are training employees for. Co-workers don't feel as if they need to help or train you unless they are paid to do so, which is a poor attitude that management can't or won't fix. The only enjoyable part of the job was the pay and the benefits. If you looking for an environment were you or your ideas will be listened to by co-workers or management, this is the wrong place. The internal culture of WMATA is poison that cost people their lives.
