Working at Washington Mutual

  • John-Doe in Georgia 38 months ago
I just had an interview for a teller position and they told me that I was the first interview they had, had and that the recruiter would contact me with a response/their decision. They said it probably will be two weeks or so. Does that mean that I didn't get the position or is it just how the company works?

In October and November of 2008, WAMU received several billions dollars under what was dubbed the TARP program (After an acquisition by JP Morgan). Guidelines set by TARP demanded that WAMU acts in the best interests of the community by stemming foreclosures on distressed properties. Our home was financed by WAMU. Loss of income and asset seizure via a civil court case has forced us into bankruptcy to halt foreclosures procedures. Even though our situation has improved to the point we can keep our home, WAMU has refused to cooperate and is forcing us to relinquish ownership through a systematic campaign to foreclose. We believe the key to saving our home is in the conditions under which WAMU has received TARP money and what WAMU has actually used the funds for. Additionally, we believe that inside WAMU information may hold the key to help us save our home. The inside information deals mostly with how WAMU used TARP funds and whether there are any borderline activities on behalf of WAMUY upper management. We believe past WAMU employees can help us build a legal case to save our home. If you are reading this and can help or know of anyone who can help, we appreciate letting us know at frankgodsent@gmail.com. We are simply trying to steer WAMU from making an inconsiderate decision that is having a devastating effect on our family (four children of which 3 are in college today). We appreciate any inside information you have or any help you can lend us. We will keep your identity confidential should you desire. Thank you... FG

Do you work at Washington Mutual? How did you find the job? How did you get that first interview? Any advice for someone trying to get in?

What do you think -- is this company going to survive and thrive? Are they looking to expand their staff, or do you think layoffs are inevitable? How does Washington Mutual stack up against the competition?

Where should I start, I was a teller for WAMU for 5 yrs, in the beginning I was happy and I was proud to say I worked there, after several years and a change in management my branch started holding regular monthly meetings that due to daycare reasons I was having problems making arrangements to make it there. My manager told me to pay extra daycare fees, transfer branches or leave my job if I couldn't make it.I made the arrangements but then was unable to meet the outragious goals they set for their employees. Customers kept telling me in this economy they don't want something new to open,I was written up and 6 mos. later fired due to not meeting goals. When my manager fired me he did it at another banch with another manager I never met before and then told me if I wanted any personal belongings I had at my location he would mail it to me. I feel that WAMU is not a enjoyable place to work unless you like a lot of stress and crap to deal with. Now that I'm not there my stress level has calmed down and I'm a much happier person to be with.

Why is it that Wamu is already laying off employees, but if you look in their careers website they have openings for the same job that they are laying off. Why isn't Chase offering these same people position within their organization. Shouldn't they be Chase employees now.
