Was a place I actually like to work other than the dangers and the dirt and the Darkness and the ailing equipment and there was plenty to do on the very old equipment that's what made it fun was always something to fix .
Set up Supervisor (Former Employee) – Chattanooga, TN – July 28, 2017
Overall I love working in the foundry field, it is the field I chose to go into and I wouldn't change that. It is challenging in all the right ways. However, I do not feel like I was making what I was worth. I am a very skilled worker in what I do, and I go to somewhere like Grede and make more, with more chance at advancing my opportunities.
Inspector/Assembler (Former Employee) – Etowah, TN – July 12, 2017
Everyone was at each other's throat to competitive and fast pace no one had ti,etc to rest or even get a word in supervisor could never be found just a terrible place and to nasty you looked like you just worked in a coal mine when finished
Maintenance Mechanic (Current Employee) – Tell City, IN – June 20, 2017
Check all ranning machines or working in the Oder they should be working. It is a good places to pick on things and learn how they work. The heat is the worst part of the job. It is hot year around. Management is not the best. When you tell someone it is going to break. You might have to wait till it goes before they get on it. The people I work with are great people and well help you learn things you don't know.
Can move days off if needed
Not really a planned out places. More day to day as you go.
Employee (Former Employee) – Etowah, TN – May 30, 2017
Management doesn't seem to remember who does the work that gets them paid. They only worry about how other managers perceive them and will throw any employees to the wolves to insure they get what they want. Terrible place to work if you have a family or hobbies. Great place to work if you want to shorten your life span or have the need/want any illegal drugs.
Operator/Laborer (Current Employee) – Etowah, TN – April 3, 2017
Waupaca has been a wonderful company to work for. Unfortunately because of the slowing down at work it has been not as dependable for steady work. So looking for a job which not only will help benefit my family but also where I can us my field of study.
Most co-workers were like family, job was not too hard to complete
Millroom Grinder/Inspector (Current Employee) – Marinette, WI – February 14, 2017
The 12 on 2 off shift is the worse thing about the job and you get very dirty but they have showers there for your use. Otherwise the job is pretty easy. You get assigned to a line and your either grinding or inspecting parts that come off the line. You get paid piecework so the more parts your line puts out the more money you make(some lines are better money makers then others obviously) it makes some people become big pricks because they wanna make money. Can be a very dangerous job too just pay attention!!
Foundry Worker (Former Employee) – Marinette, WI – January 12, 2017
I worked in the Millroom at Waupaca Foundry and most days had you working very hard. Every day consisted of working with iron parts and making sure they were done to specification of the customer. Cleaning was also a very important thing that needed to be done every day. When the days were hard, one of the best things to get you through was your co-workers. If you had good people to work with it always made the day seem a little bit better.
