About We Care

CONTACT has served crisis callers in Union County, New Jersey since 1975. More than 100 highly trained volunteers answer some 10,000 calls per year. While the majority of our callers are from north and central New Jersey, we receive calls from every part of the state and even beyond.

CONTACT We Care answers calls to 1-800-273-TALK and is the primary
 – more... responder to the 732, 908, and 856 area codes. In 2004, CONTACT answered nearly 250 suicide-related calls. For all calls, we provide confidential, non-judgmental, active listening to help callers cope with whatever crisis they face.

We also provide information and referrals on social services and professional assistance available in each New Jersey county.

Through our Senior Ring and Care Ring programs, CONTACT volunteers also place reassurance calls to the elderly and homebound. – lessMore from ZoomInfo »
