As a senior front end engineer, you love building responsive, well-composed client side applications. You love working with great UI/UX designers to create elegant and simple experiences that solve problems and delight millions of users. You have a knack for putting yourself in the shoes of the user. You know how to make things fast and feel snappy. Your experience and ability to understand the design goals of the business and to translate them into an elegant technical solution is what you love to do. You have the ability to see the bigger picture and communicate it to others.

You’re excited to work on the homepage redesign. You want to A/B test alternative solutions to see which one works better. You can’t wait to start working on a new site feature, or building a widget or figuring out how to get viral growth through a clever social media integration (and you like figuring out how to hack Facebook’s API when the documentation is wrong). You love the challenge of working at a startup with a mission, and seeing the results of your efforts every day in user traffic and behavior.


Experience with Responsive Web Design (desktop, mobile and tablet devices)
Proficient with Javascript and frameworks such as jQuery and jQueryUI. You will be the primary driver of our client side module and should have experience with widget development or done some complex mash-up work.
Excellent social media integration skills, including Facebook and Twitter
Fluent in semantic HTML5 and CSS3, and comfortable with LESS preprocessors
Extensive experience writing elegant, readable, maintainable HTML and CSS
Strong working knowledge of DOM and AJAX
Good working knowledge of server side coding (PHP)
Experience with cloud architecture (Amazon Web Services), caching, performance optimization and SEO
Solid knowledge of web standards, cross-browser compatibility, and building in accessibility from the ground up
Experience working in open-source LAMP environment, including SSH
Solid understanding of web technologies such as REST, HTTP, JSON
Comfortable debugging browser problems with firebug and similar tools.
Solid understanding of testing concepts and practices (unit testing, test automation, …)
Understands version control, preferably Git
Communicate effectively with all internal business related team members.
Ideal candidate should have experience creating highly trafficked websites
Identify opportunities for process improvement and make constructive suggestions for change.
