Terrible place to work for
Manager on Duty (Former Employee), Sunbury, PAMarch 28, 2014
Pros: meeting new people, different shifts
Cons: short breaks or no breaks, short handed, impossible tasks, poor management, technology outdated, no time off, can't call in sick, all employees are visibly miserable
Never work here unless you are 16 and its your first job! A typical day at work would be, people calling off, being short handed and having to try completing not only your tasks but tasks of others that have called off. Management is terrible and won't lift a finger to help you, let alone communicate with you about anything other than negative incites. – more... Vacation is terrible and limited to certain times of the year with many blackout dates. Work weeks for managers is 50-60 hrs and holidays more. You get yelled at if you call off sick or forbid a family member passes. They want the best employee they can get for minimum wage and treating them horribly. Advancement is almost impossible because if you show talent getting paid at a low amount they will not promote you because they will have to spend more money. The most enjoyable part about this job was being able to talk with customers and meeting new people. Never work here unless you are 16 and its your first job. – less

Fun place for work, and nice people to work with.
Front End Monitor, Customer Service (Current Employee), Lewisburg, PAFebruary 8, 2014
A typical day is running around work to keep customers happy. My managers are nice and fun to work with, really understanding. Coworkers like to work with me. The hardest part of my job is keeping everyone happy. The most enjoyable part is meeting interesting people all the time coming in.

Stressful, understaffed and mismanaged work environment
Dairy Manager (Current Employee), Store 168October 17, 2013
Pros: decent benefits, potential to advance
Cons: non-livable pay rate, high workload, understaffed, demanding schedule, out of touch executives
Weis Markets upper management is completely out of touch with store level operations. The allocation of essential resources is completely mismanaged. Typically high grossing store departments are understaffed and department managers are overworked. Employee compensation has no apparent rhyme or reason and the great majority of Weis employees are extremely – more... dissatisfied. Their management training program leaves a lot to be desired. Its difficult to pinpoint what the mission of Weis markets is, being an employee of the company and experiencing the daily difficulties that many of us endure. A typical day on the job consists of being bombarded with an extremely intense workload, accompanied by high expectations. All in all, the pay rate is not commensurate with the level of work performed. – less

Terrible company
Cashier/ACM Shopper Assistant/Deli Clerk (Former Employee), Baltimore, MDSeptember 26, 2013
A usual work day at Weis Markets was never one to look forward to in any way. They don't pay you enough for they work they want you to do and if you show them that you adapt fast and are able to muli-task you are in trouble. They have no respect for their workers. I got into a car accident on my way to work and had to call out because I couldn't make – more... it in time. My manager did not ask me was I ok but instead said,"OK, whatever make this your last call-out." That was my first time calling out and he put me down as a no call no show. – less

It's Just a Job, Not a Career
Meat Specialist/Seafood Leader (Former Employee), Reading, PAJanuary 30, 2013
Pros: meat interesting customers and for bond with great people.
Cons: management on all levels is lacking, the company is your #1 priority and your life cannot interfere with what they want.
Typical workday for Weis consist of clocking and reporting to your designated work area. Assess the current status of it and begin to go through your normal routing of culling the depart for bad or out of date product. Once that has be finished begin to make a list of what is needed to get the department into shape and prioritize it. Work as hard and – more... as fast as you can since you are given a certain time to have the department into tip top showcase state. No excuses, even when your the only person scheduled for that day, which will occur often unless you are in a high volume store. – less

the overview of weis markets night crew
Overnight Backup Manager (Current Employee), East Norriton PaNovember 11, 2012
1. Over view of the days progress, explore the work for the active night, close up store and monitor every department while proceeding with operations of a night clerk and store manager.
2. The procedures of locking up the store and maintaining a balance work place throughout the store.
3. Good workers as long as they are being pushed to continue working.
4. – more... Maintaining the procedures of a night clerk while maintaining a well balanced workplace with security and carrying on the procedures as a manager.

Great job to develop managerial skills
Customer Service (Former Employee), Frederick, MDJune 29, 2012
Pros: flexible schedule with accommodations to my lifestyle.
Cons: the healthcare benefits were not that great.
This job gave me a natural outlet to display my personality as a very social person and to service customers comfortably. I never felt overwhelmed, it was a job that gave me a manager's edge. Creating an enjoyable experience for the customer always made me feel good about being at work. I began to know everyone in my county because of my presence at – more... the service desk and eventually became good friends with a lot of them outside of work. – less

Inconsistant, love the people I work with and customers
Manager on Duty (Current Employee), York, PaJune 27, 2012
Pros: not tied down
Cons: not enought help
All days very. The store I am at is hard to predict sales and customer volume. We may not have enough cashiers scheduled causing limited time to get audits, sweeps, breaks, lunches and other cash related things accomplished. My co-workers range in age and experience from 16 years old to 83 years old. The most enjoyable part of my job is working with – more... the customers and making them happy. – less

Decent place to work
Office Leader (Former Employee), State College, PAJune 6, 2012
Easy to incorporate daily life into work place. Also great at letting employees take days off when needed or make up hours for missed days.
