Wellmark strongly believes that as the largest health-insurer in Iowa, we have a corporate responsibility to help improve the health status of our citizens. This is why we focus on partnerships with some of the best not-for-profit organizations to fund research projects, support special programs and assist with their fundraising efforts to make the largest positive impact on health in our state. In addition, Wellmark supports various physical fitness opportunities, with the understanding that participation in physical activity can have a positive affect on a person's overall health.
Wellmark was pleased to be a sponsor in the AAU Junior Olympic Games. During this time 50,000 participants came to Des Moines and competed in different sporting events. This event is the single largest, multi-sport youth competition in the country. The Games began on July 27 and ended on August 7.
