You are not allowed to laugh, smile, talk, sing, hum, whisper... if you are doing any of that you are not doing the job you were hired for and you will either get written up or sent to work in the call center. Cell Phones are strictly prohibited in any area with a computer, if caught with a cell phone in the call center you will be fired.
Pros: Free Lunch Monday - Friday, Overtime Pay, Bonuses.
Cons: Long Hours, No Job Security, They offer Benefits but too Expensive, Must Ask and wait your turn to use the bathroom even if it is an emergency. Any Absence you have to have proof or you are written up. If you have special needs you must provide a doctors note. Lunch Breaks can vary: 2x 15 min breaks for a 10 hour+ shift, 1 half hour break for a 10+ hour shift, 1 half hour and later a 15 min break. You are promised to work 4 days a week at 10+ hour days, have an On call day and 2 days off during interview process, However, in reality, not the case.... Sometimes there are 2 On call days that you have to call in to see if you must go in, most likely you will and may get 1 day off. Heard one person call in who said that was their 8th day in a row working, Mgt doesn't care If you are tired or feeling broken, and quit or walk out, there are plenty more people ready to take your place. You are Replaceable. They have a High turn over rate.
If you are hired as a Apprentice designer be prepared to work fast, really fast. You must lift flimsy buckets that spill easily, you must wrap all designer arrangements in speedious manner the correct way, You must process all incoming roses with nasty thorns (my advice bring your own heavy duty gardening gloves, I preferred suede tipped and suede palms) and place them in the flimsy buckets that tip easily. You must fill FedX orders (a nightmare), and you are in charge of watering all plants in the store in under 2 hours, if they leak or get water logged or get too dried out you will get written up. You stay until the designers get done with all the arrangements for the day, and then you must wrap them for next day's deliveries.
I prefer to work in the call center, as a Customer Service Representative. It has it's flaws too but Your body will not break at the end of the day, your minds may. (Because you will get yelled at by every customer that calls in.) You must always be in ready to answer a call with a customer complaint. Your job is to save every order, by offering partial refunds and store credit, or offering to upgrade a customers order with 2 Dozen Roses, that most likely will not survive the journey. I prefer to offer plants, they may arrive a little yellow, but they do generally survive better. Fedx orders are delivered in a box and have all day until 8:00pm to arrive. The website does not say this clearly enough that it takes two days for a FDX item to be delivered. So most customer get mad when the delivery date they set will not be the day the recipients receive the flowers. A very last resort is a full refund. Visa Customers get taken care of first. You will also have voicemails that must be called to see if they need further assistance with an order.
