It used to be a very well rounded place, but the new management has made staff feel like a number, rather than a valued asset and income is far more important than staff satisfaction or reducing staff shortages. Units are often at least 2 staff short (1 aide and 1 nurse), which leads to many many instances of unstafe staffing ratios (1:6 or 7, sometimes as many as 8).
I learned many things there like what to do and what not to do. The hardest part of my job was when a young person came in code blue and didnt make it, or when I had to extubate a young person to die. The most enjoyable part was seeing someone be very sick and see the long journey to health.
Working conditions were hard at times, but rewarding if people would let you just do your job and stop micro-managing
BILLING/CODING SUPERVISOR (Former Employee) – Hattiesburg, MS – April 5, 2017
If you were someone they liked...then you didn't have to worry about anything, I loved being able to just do my job and not have admins on my back. I work well and know that I am responsible for my output.
Certain People just want things the old way, and they don't want to listen to what laws and regulations are changed.
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) (Former Employee) – Wichita, KS – April 3, 2017
I worked as an emergency medical technician, in the emergency room. There were so many different things that happened on a daily basis. Things from a level 1 trauma to someone who had a simple ear ache. I enjoyed not knowing what was going to happen on a daily basis.
I loved working there. The employees were terrific and I loved my job. The patients were terrific and I learned a lot. I wish I would have never got laid off for I could have seen myself working there the rest of my life!
They have great people working here, It is an overall great place to work. I have learned a lot of customer service skills working here as well as medical terminology. My manager is very sweet and understanding. The hardest part of the job is seeing patients that you can't take their pain away. The most enjoyable part of the job is helping people and all of the great people I have met here.
