Many business clients with in the facility, always trying to be involved with employees
Business to Business Sales (Current Employee), 100 W College Ave, Appleton 54911July 16, 2014
Pros: very flexible with schedule and generous with summer hours.
Cons: sideways advancements, no additional pay.
Typical day includes on average 80 outbound cold calls and inbound sales and customer service calls. Learned that the rental business is a very variable business. Co-workers are acceptable, currently just focused on becoming the hardest and smartest worker in department, which involves being focused on the phone. Hardest part of my day is when I realize – more... its nice outside and I'm inside! Enjoy working both in and outdoors when possible. Most enjoyable part of the job is hearing how many different businesses there are in the world. – less

Account manager (Former Employee), Wausau WiJune 20, 2014
Pros: bonuses
Cons: pins
I enjoyed working on the Office Depot program. It was a fantastic opportunity to develop new sales skills while utilizing existing customer service skills. The hours of operation worked well for me; benefits offered were generous and affordable. Overall the largest challenge was the continuously changing metrics as focus changed often. Overall, good – more... experience. – less

Customer Service Mgr Govt Ed & Med Accts (Former Employee), Oklahoma City, OKJune 20, 2014
Pros: great co-workers & area management support, decent benefits
Cons: home office management out of touch, don't care about employees; constantly changing processes;
Worked with Government, Education and Medical accounts to provide maintenance and billing support. Co-workers were great and teams were supportive of each other. Direct management was great but upper management not supportive. The hardest part of the job was getting assistance from maintenance and customer care segments as their number were decreased – more... due to lay-offs.Most enjoyable part of the job was building relationships with customers and the satisfaction of being able to resolve their issues. – less

Ok place to work.
Customer Service Representative (Current Employee), Appleton, WIJune 12, 2014
Pros: free parking
Cons: dirty, short breaks
A typical day at work is signing into your computer programs to start your day. You answer phone calls and if the call volume is slow you respond to your follow up emails or assist consumers who rather correspond then email. You handle consumers questions and concerns about the product.
I learned more about people and a lot about the diaper industry – more... in addition to learning more about the company as a whole.
My co-workers are fun people to work with although we do not communicate much to each other. The consumers are the main focus.
The hardest part of the job is when you have a difficult call and can not answer the customers question given the tools that are provided.
The most enjoyable part of the job is having the opportunity to help people. – less

fun place to work at
Customer Service Represenative (Former Employee), San Antonio, TexasMay 26, 2014
Pros: contest, good benefits, exciting atmosphere
Cons: breaks short
The job load was extremely heavy at first, because we dealt with shipping very expensive medicine to sick patients, so being very cautious at this job was very important. The atmosphere at this workplace at first was not likable to me because I felt like management was too loud at times while we were on the phone but other times it actually was really – more... fun. Everybody around me was really nice and we tend to have fun a lot. Management was really good with communication and job aides. They kept us engaged by offering overtime, contest, and free food at times. I really just enjoyed a lot of the people I worked with while there. – less

Inside Sales, American Express Open (Current Employee), Appleton, WIApril 10, 2014
Pros: free parking
Cons: see above
Highly exploitive, and dishonest. Income potential presented upon hiring is based on fringe-groups, not accessible to new hires for many years, regardless of performance. Hourly wage is almost all you will actually earn. Many deceptive practices, with many tools with which management can take away commissions/bonuses. If you have children, you will – more... be fired. If you get sick, you will be fired. – less

Miserable and Heartbreaking
Altria Resource Representative (Former Employee), Wausau, WIApril 2, 2014
Pros: they hire a wonderful class of people so fellow employees are usually good people.
Cons: they hire, scoop up government benefits of hiring the unemployed then fire you so they can do it again. fraud.
A typical day at work is stressful because you are always worried about your job. They ALWAYS find something to pick at you about and accomplishments are not rewarded. They promote only people who can become their puppets, not people who are actually good managers of other people. They find the most ridiculous instances, usually from a month previous – more... to fire people over. I worked there six months and 19 people were fired during that time and just as many were hired. We were told we were unprofessional for a call we might have made a mistake on but the program manager can play on her phone while you are being fired and not say one word and the supervisors come to work with tattoos blazing and piercings everywhere. When Altria comes to town the jewelry comes out and tattoos are covered up why????? BECAUSE IT IS UNPROFESSIONAL!!!!!!!!! The only power most of these people will ever have is the ability to "fire" ex investigators, lawyers, managers of other positions, firemen, police officers, airline pilots....these are the people West hires. Most of us have never been fired a day in our lives. Thankfully I have a job waiting because I had already been looking while there. I recommend you all do the same. Take it because you need a paycheck. But do not stop looking and get out of there before they get the chance to mar your record with a firing. That means before you are there six months. – less

Good workplace if you enjoy being on the phone
Sales Representative (Former Employee), Mesa, AZFebruary 25, 2014
Pros: easy work place, good pay
Cons: constent phone service, sales
It was a funk and productive work place. A lot of chances to receive bonuses. Management was very professional.

The hardest part of the job was being on the phones, because I am not a call center kind of person. But anyone who enjoys this would enjoy the job. Good pay!

Cons: not a career-type job
You can laid off with no more than a 2-3 week notification.I had nice coworkers, but even we all agreed that this was not a career-type atmosphere. When it comes to WEST "DONT PUT ALL YOUR EGGS IN ONE BASKET. YOU JUST MIGHT BREAK THEM"

Account Executive (Former Employee), Madison, WINovember 15, 2013
Pros: flexible, decent pay, great work enviornment
Cons: unorganized, confusing and misleading
I worked for WBS for almost a year. The pay is decent. The commision structure is ridculous it changes on almost a monthly bases. The Management never knows which direction to go. It can be a great place to work. Depending on the day.
