Sales (Current Employee), wisconsin –
Pros: atmosphere, benefits, bonus, training, incentives
Cons: excessive sitting, monotony, regimented, wage structure
The 3 locations in Wisconsin are lovely. Large and comfortable cubicles, comfortable chairs, onsite cafeteria in 2 locations. A broad variety of skills and levels of professionals. Internal placement has variety. Majority of positions require telephone and computer use all day, with 7.5 hours of sitting. Call volume and quotas are required. Job responsibilities – more...  are dependent on clients needs - Sales, Marketing, Surveys, Health support, to name a few. Bonus potential, Transfer options. Nice benefits. Micro management. Advancement very controlled. Very confidential environment. – less

It's not the worst place in the world.
Customer Service Representative- Billing/Sales (Former Employee), Universal City, Tx –
The job itself wasn't great, but one of the reasons why I liked working at West was because of the environment. Everyone there is really nice with a positive attitude.

I would highly recommend against working for the Frontier project. It's a waste of time and a scam. Nothing but issues everyday.

Customer Service Representative (Former Employee), pensacola –
because i work from home i think the hour pay @ home should be more or the same as the employees that work inside & it would be nice if you could work there long term with out being worried that you are going to be laid-off or you have to work to jobs just because it may happen but all & all nice company to work if you were not being grade like you – more...  are in school – less

Sales Agent
DMDR Sales Agent (Current Employee), Reno, NV –
Pros: simple computer systems, ok pay, chance for large bonus
Cons: awful work environment, inconsistent information on policies, high stress
If you would like to work in a George Orwellesque 1984 type enviornment this is the place for you. THEY are always watching and your value is very, very little to the overall company. The job is not so difficult, but the constant threat of loss of your bonus and job are a little bit much. The lead level management and the trainers are all very nice – more...  people and I feel just as bad for them as I do for my fellow co workers as the stress to perform and produce on this job is very high. My main complaint is a lack of consistant information on policy and rules. Everytime you ask anyone you get several different answers. This makes it quite difficult to give accurate information to customers and often creates unsatisified situations. You can make a lot of money if you dedicate your life to this place, but I'm just not the type of person who wishes to do that. What good is your cash if you are too busy or stressed out to ever enjoy it. I would urge anyone who has any sort of imagination or soul to consider other options before West. – less

Multiple Customer Service opportunities
Telecommunications Phone operator (Former Employee), Universal City, TX –
West Corporation strives to provide excellent customer service for all it's clients. West offers 2-4 weeks of paid training for each project. I have processed incoming calls for Harrah's Casino and for Frontier. both organizations are clients of West Corporation. My duties and responsibilities include processing calls and adhering to companies policies – more...  and procedures to ensure excellent customer service. Working at West has helped me develop communication and customer service skills. Managers and co-workers all understand the importance of customer service and they strive to assist each other. the hardest part of the job is getting a call from an irate customer with a problem and I am unable to assist them due to the fact I do not possess the authority to give them what they are requesting. The best part of the job is when I'm able to assist the customer and offer them discounts and promotions to bring their prices lower to make them happy. – less

Customer Service Representative (Former Employee), Pensacola, FL –
Pros: hourly pay was good
Cons: management
I hated this place. The management were terrible. They had no idea what they were doing, and they expected the customer reps to be professional. The only reason i stayed there was bez they used to pay 11 bucks an hour.

Stressful, Horrible training.
Short Sale Support (Former Employee), Tulsa, OK –
Stressful job wouldn't recommend to anybody. Great pay but not worth the hassle of having to get cussed out constantly by customers, because our team couldn't do the good correct.

Invormation gathering support
Pharmaceutical Research Representative (Former Employee), Omaha, Ne –
Pros: flexible hours, benefits after 90 days, short breaks
Cons: little feedback, open conversations
A typical work week consisted of Monday through Friday from 7 am to 730 pm, since a lot of overtime needed to be worked, to reduce the work that was on the back log. During that time there were two 10 min and one 30 min break, other than that I would contact customers, verify the needed information and process their orders. Saturdays I worked 7 am to – more...  4 pm and once in a while on Sunday from 8 am to 12 pm.
I learned that accuracy and speed is an essential and that not all awards given actually mean you are doing a good job, that management is only as good as their availability and willingness to arrange for training and that feedback is essential.
Co-workers were encouraging and friendly, as we all relied on each other.
The hardest part of the job was to leave it behind, as I enjoyed it a lot and the most enjoyable was to be able to be there daily and counted on. – less

run in the other direction
Customer Service Representative (Comcast) (Former Employee), Pensacola, FL –
Pros: the ability to p/u and give away hours
Cons: high demands for substandard working conditions
This place is a joke for a call center, they have high demands for substandard service. Comcast doesn't really care about its customers they just want you to make it seem like you care and get their customers off the phone. You have an unbelievable AHT (Average Handle Time) for billing and every customer that calls in complains about how they've been – more...  blindsided about their bill, service...etc...etc...etc. The Trainers, Supervisors and Leads are ALL on different pages they don't back each other and are quick to throw one another under the bus. Rules changes daily and they say it's Comcast not West it's a circus or more like a side show! – less

Customer Service Associate (Former Employee), Tulsa, OK –
Cons: production leads have favorites, you get promoted by speed not by helping.
After two weeks of training for another client they walked in add laid-off the whole class (about 25 people). They took our badges before we could leave the training room.

Unsecured job
Customer Service (Former Employee), Pensacola, FL –
Pros: pay, time off, and overtime
Cons: high turnover, low moral, lack of training, no pension, and not employee oriented
West has great benefits like pay and paid and unpaid time off, but at the same time they can walk you out before you blink for something you didn't realize was wrong. West has a really high turnover rate, the average llength an employee is employed at West is about 6 months.

West was in the midst of a corporate take over during my employment there.
Customer Service Operator (Former Employee), Reno, NV –
Pros: near a bus stop, nice cafeteria, clean facility, easy hiring process
Cons: much confusion, many demotions, corporate takeover.
It was very difficult to work there. Many demotions, an automatic deposit system which did not always work. Training was long and although very interesting and enlighting it was inadequate for what we faced.

The hardest part of the job was facing the customers without the information at hand plus remembering all the databases which had to be filled – more...  out by the end of the call.

Most of the employees there were very young. – less
