A typical day at work is very productive and involves lots of multitasking. I've learned to use lots of Microsoft tools and I've also learned lots of good qualities in assisting customer's in any billing, service assurance and ordering issues. Overall it is an ok place to work. The facility is old and outdated, but the equipment is great. I try not to use the restroom while at work because they are gross. Poor management can kill your productivity

I worked at West Corporation for a little over a year. I was consistently ranked in the top 5% for the site. I was a technical, billing, and warranty representative. The job itself is really not that bad, however poor management in the Spokane WA area completely destroys your will to work. I have had great supervisors, and some terrible ones. The upper – more... management is in no way concerned with keeping tenured staff, even with good stats as they are the exception. They have told us that studies show that people with less tenure there tend to provide better stats for them, and thus the mentality is to get rid of any long tenured staff member taking calls. I have witnessed people let go for absolutely nothing at all. Furthermore the Head of the site is a liar and a poor example of good management. I was told that he invented a tool there that is used to gauge your performance when I questioned it's validity. This was not only untrue but no attempt was ever made to show me where I was wrong, I was merely told I was wrong. This happens to be a trend with all "bad" managers there. The few good ones will either tell you that you are doing it right, or they will show you calls where you failed to do something. This was far more effective for me because I can not dispute a recording of me not offering something. But lazy managers will briefly look at stats and find something that isn't perfect and hound you for it without actually working with you. As a last resort the place isn't that bad, it's a paycheck, but a meager one at that. The health benefits for the grunts taking the calls is basically non-existent, and the only real solace is that you will get about 10 days of paid time off if you can make it a year there. Another big problem with the site I worked at was that they constantly cheated to keep their numbers up. We were told once that all surveys were going to be allowed on our stats because some site was cheating and flagging all escalated calls as manager calls to make it exempt from the survey, well, this is exactly what they were doing with "angry disconnect sheets". They would have a manager call the angry customer back, and whether they got a hold of them or not it wold be flagged as a manger call so the survey they might have gotten wold not be counted. This is not what AT&T wants them to do. You do not want to work for a company that is this dishonest. This demonstration of their lack of integrity is a common theme with most of their interactions with staff. You have been warned, do not expect much more than a paycheck from these guys. – less

Cons: you can't get sick
It was a good job to have. I had a decent pay and the customers you could manage to handle. Some are very nice while other a very mean, which is to be expected. Only had one customer that I ever really had to report. Also, you are trained to do your job, but while I was there, the training period got shorter. However, you are not allowed to get sick – more... while working here. They have a 90% attendance policy, and sickness doesn't excuse you from that. Being in the hospital doesn't excuse you for that as well. You can try to work something out, but you have to be able to afford to go to the doctors, and they don't accept doctor excuses when you do go. Only if you have missed 3 days or more AND have a doctors excuse will they be able to try and help you. – less
