Productive and fun workplace
Customer Service Representative (Former Employee), Beaumont, TX – April 22, 2013
Pros: pay/hours was good
Cons: short breaks
It can be a slow or busy day depending on the time of the year. When it is busy the phones are ringing nonstop, scheduling appointments for gas to be turned on or off. We were steady learning something new every week. We were constantly training for a new method of helping people that needed our help. The staff was pretty large so I didn't know that – more... many people upper management but the few that i did know was pretty cool. – less

Call center environment and very fast-paced
Comcast Customer Account Executive (Former Employee), Pensacola, FL – February 25, 2013
Billing agent for Comcast customers which was a very fast-paced atmosphere that experienced high call volumes throughout the day, especially during the lunch and after work hours. I learned many things about the cable industry, troubleshooting, and how to calm down irate customers through shear empathy. The management and co-workers were all willing – more... to help handle special situations and requests by the customers. The hardest part of the job was trying to up sell to customers who were trying to save money (which was required on every call). The most enjoyable part of the job was being able to explain and fix a customers billing issue with complete understanding. – less

Focused work enviroment with friendly co-workers & great leadership
Customer Service Representative (Former Employee), Spokane, WA – January 8, 2013
Pros: positive team to work with
Cons: high stress
West was a great company to work for & highly motivated to helping you to have "All 5's" on every call that you received. All the supervisors were helpful & most co-workers were positive. Because if you don't have a positive attitude in a call center, you probably wont last long. Despite all the helpfulness & tools that one gains at West it is still – more... a high stress environment & multiple tasks must be looked after in detail simultaneously. Its a great job, but beware of the stress. – less

Large call center with several opportunities
Customer Care Agent (Former Employee), Hampton, VA – November 29, 2012
Pros: ability to schedule or drop additional work hours, opportunity to advance within the company, incentives
Cons: heavy call volume, 30 minute lunch, paperless work environment, not having a permanent station or work desk
I served on the Cingular pre-paid customer service agent, assisting Cingular customers with initial service activation, account information , adding more minutes to the current standing prepaid account, reviewing monthly invoices to relieve consumer concerns, transferring calls to proper department and notating accounts to reflect all things discussed – more... during calls.
I also acted as the initial point of contact for basic device troubleshooting and technical support. As an agent I was trained to canceled customer accounts and apply credit adjustments.
The most enjoyable part of the position was being acknowledged by the Human Resources and Quality Assurance Departments for outstanding customer service and Proper Call and Phone Etiquette which prompted them to appoint me as Demonstrator for all prospective employees during their interview process.
I was also selected as one of only 25 employees to premier a new customer service line, and served as temporary floor supervisor. – less
