The General Manager of the Reefer Division (GM) is responsible for the Reefer Fleet’s operation from its financial performance, to the operations - sales, billing, payroll, expenses, to its people (drivers and staff). Profitability and ability to be competitive in the reefer market without limit, top notch customer service, safety, maximum revenue per truck, and minimal deadhead are all part of the job. The GM has to ensure that all drivers/staff are qualified and trained for the field in which they work. The GM will be responsible for the hiring and discipline of the drivers in the reefer department, directly or thru staff. The GM will keep VP up to date on all aspects of the reefer operation, needs, wants, goals, and performance. The GM is responsible for pricing and costing to ensure profitability, as well as drivers earnings, so that it is a win win situation for all involved. The GM will be in charge of all staff in dispatch, sales, as well as billing. The GM will approve of and be responsible for driver’s expenses and paperwork. Work schedule is Monday – Friday 8am to 5pm or whatever is necessary in order to schedule in equipment and manage issues. On call status is required for issues/problems. Dress is mid formal business attire (no jeans, except Fridays). This person/position will also be a part of Western’s “A Team” and will be required to be involved in team meetings, events, projects, and leadership of Western.
