productive,positive, educational work environment
Financial Aid Representative (Former Employee), Westminster, CO – May 7, 2013
Pros: we often got coffe bar and breakfast, able to go to school for free
Cons: very high paced environment, lots of work
a typical day was never typical, the environment was high paced and challenging. being able to talk to students who are ready and excited to start or continue their schooling is very gratifying. helping student with anything from completing their FAFSA's to helping them connect to job opportunities in their field of choice is great.
Management was great, – more... my supervisor not only guided me and kept me n track with task and goals, but also taught me how to multi-task while still being very efficient. The hardest part of this job was the student population that each advisor had to embrace each term while keeping up with the needs of their continuing students. The most enjoyable part of the job was the success stories that an advisor was able to witness each term. it could be anything from a student getting an overall good gpa despite of them struggling or graduates who contact you to invite you to watch them graduate. – less

Unethical....
Academic Advisor (Former Employee), Denver, CO – May 3, 2013
Pros: the few people that do care
Cons: pay, time off, benefits are awful, senior management, ceo, classes, instructors, the constant lying just to name the few
Being fresh out of college the one good thing I will say about Westwood is they do give you a shot without any experience. However you learn how awful this place is. They do not care about the students, they are only a number. I have witnessed Admission reps lie to the students then lie to me about lying to the students, even thought we have the phone – more... call recorded. Then when you report them to senior management, management pretends to take the claim seriously and a few months pass by and now the Admission Rep that lied received a promotion because they were able to swindle in more students then anyone else. The cost of the school is overpriced and most students run out of FA before they can even graduate. The online classes are a joke basically giving the students a book to read, there is little to no instruction.

If you need the experience just to put something on your resume then take it but make this place your last resort. – less

Very well managed work place
Library Work Study (Former Employee), Denver, CO – April 14, 2013
Westwood college had a very good management system, witch gave employees a good balance between home life and work.I always had time to work and go to class, or go home right on time, I never had to stay late unless I wanted to.

admissions rep (Former Employee), annandale campus – April 13, 2013
Pros: nothing
Cons: everthing
this is one of the worst compay to work for. they only beleive in numbers, they just care how many students you can enroll. Sitting all day make 100 to 150 calls and no student to enroll

Good atmosphere but not a good fit
Student Advisor (Former Employee), Westminster, CO – April 12, 2013
Pros: good coworkers and good pay, seeing a student i enrolled graduate was the best feeling.
Cons: top down only management, metric focused as opposed to student focused
The days consisted of contacting new enrollees to ensure a smooth transition to the online education format, contacting continuing students to aid with any motivation or technical issues, assisting term to term enrollment and financial aid processes. My coworkers were some of the best people who really believed in the value of continuing education. – more... As the school grew the focus changed from the education of students who were appropriate for the programs to strictly profit, I had a hard time continuing with the changing format. – less

Admissions Representative/Recruiter (Former Employee), Arlington, VA – April 11, 2013
Pros: training, expectations
Cons: high stress environment some days
The training program is great. Expectations are set from day one and how to meet those expectations are very clear. All the resources necessary to be successful are provided. They even sent me to Colorodo for training. Great company!

Great People/Great Company/ Very Stressful
Certified Admissions Representative (Current Employee), Denver, CO – April 2, 2013
Pros: great hours / good raises
Cons: scheduled lunches, working some weekends
Sitting at desk all day talking to prospective students or trying to talk to people, make 60 to 120 calls a day trying to find people to attend college. Performing 2 to 3 hour Interviews on the phone providing information about College Programs, benefits, costs and Financial Aid. Enroll students and walk them through the process and continue to follow-up – more... with them to keep them engaged and in school.
I enjoy all my co-workers and management is good but sometimes can be micro-managed... I have learned a lot from my Director as to how to engage students and to get students on the phone etc. The hardest part of the job is knowing that if you do not meet your quota for students for the term your job is always on the line...even though we have no control over the students dropping out or they may just stop calling or answering their phone. The most enjoyable is getting students in to college to help change their lives and their families lives to better themselves and their futures. Very rewarding when you have students graduate. – less

Weak student culture
Adjunct faculty-Political (Former Employee), Ontario – March 25, 2013
Pros: free popcorn
Cons: management
Weak students at westwood, I liked them but most should not be in college.

Taught for awhile, some department chairs were good, some not, played favorites, some too old to be working.

Terrible company and school
College Recruiter (Former Employee), DFW – March 24, 2013
Cons: very stressful, long hours, no work life balance, bad pay
I was shocked to find out that this management team is not worried about the student getting an education as much as they are worried about just getting them to enroll. I am not shocked that the Fort Worth school did not stay open. They were ruthless with their employees and students. Terrible shame that they charge all that money for school but can't – more... deliver the education. No wonder they are tied up in the legal system.
If you are hired at any of their other campuses, they will railroad you daily and worry you to death to get enrollments. DON'T GO TO WORK HERE – less

Very helpful for students needing a little extra income
Library Assistant (Former Employee), Upland, CA – March 20, 2013
This was a work-study position and they were very willing to work around your school schedule. I was able to both work and do homework, they also provided relevant programs that were needed to complete projects and homework.

How do you figure? The cost of Westwood is so ridiculous that students get so far in debt don't get the skills they need to get a decent job, and now have to pay their loans back making minimum wage! SHAME

Terrible place to work
Student Finance Team Leader (Former Employee), Atlanta, GA – February 20, 2013
Pros: departmental staff
Cons: moral/ unorganized/ bad process/ management
A typical day was very stressful because of the low moral and culture. Management on every level was horrible and unethical. there was no need to go through chain of command because you would not get any results, at least no positive ones. I had a positive experience with the staff in my department.

Westwood College was dedicated to the students.
Executive ELITE Masters Admissions Representative (Former Employee), Fort Worth, TX and Atlanta, GA – December 28, 2012
Pros: education was true to all students.
Cons: some admissions reps were there just for the money...no passion.
If Westwood College had not closed the campuses in Texas, I would still be working for them.

Very stressful place to work with a little pay, long hours and compliance confused employees
Staff (Former Employee), VA – December 19, 2012
Pros: students
Cons: everything else
I did not have one positive co-worker at this job, as everyone was consistently looking for a new job. There was no job security, no advancement in pay and if you asked for more pay...you suddenly ended up "fired". I was management and watched how they would find things wrong with an employee out of nowhere simply because they were always afraid that – more... someone would realize their worth and leave. Everyone stayed tense and stressed and every other day there was an email update stating about another change of the company including multiple demotions from corporate, several people leaving the company (including the CEO) and depleting of benefits.
The most enjoyable part was the students but only because one had to find some sort of joy to stay sane in the job...but one had to have a lot of patience with the students. – less
