JOB DESCRIPTION:

POSITION SUMMARY

Direct accountability to conduct process improvement projects throughout the company and its various regions using methodologies grounded in Lean Six Sigma principles to achieve efficient, highly productive workflow processes. Conducts project work to identify key issues and problems, designs performance metrics, generates solutions and implements process changes in collaboration with process owners and organizational leaders. Responsible for educating Staff and Leadership throughout the system on the basics of A3, Lean and Six Sigma principles via hands-on project engagement. Accountable for providing project documentation for the Director, Vice President, System and Regional Executives. Co-Directs Kaizen or improvement events and conducts follow up activities as needed. Is able to lead a variety of teams to promote organizational efficiency and effectiveness in both business and clinical improvement initiatives. Works as an effective, collaborative member of the Performance Effectiveness team. Promotes performance management by utilizing Management by Fact (MBF) methodology. This position is exempt.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identifies, plans and implements change via A3, Lean and Six Sigma methodologies
  • Develops Project charters and Implementation plan. Uses a wide variety of analytic skills to assist a team with a comprehensive, process focus improvement plan
  • Establishes and teaches the concept of high performance work teams where applicable
  • Provides guidance to team on performance and productivity issues
  • Actively participates and leads in analyzing data, developing reliable metrics and effectively and efficiently implementing improvement recommendations and action plans
  • Accountable for the development of project documentation for the Director of Process Improvement, Vice President, team Directors, Regional and other System Executives to facilitate sharing of project key processes, outcomes and best practices
  • Assesses project impact on business performance
  • Understands and can apply the National Quality forums Safe Practices, TJC standards and CMS Conditions of Participation to achieve a balance process approach which meets or exceeds regulatory standards
  • Establishes effective professional business relationships with all levels of management
  • Instructs and educates in all aspects of the project, Lean, A3, and Six Sigma as may be required and appropriate to the improvement project
  • Identifies and seeks resources and data for project using a wide variety of sources
  • Develops the project schedule and tracks progress towards final solutions and results
  • Supports the transfer of new solutions or processes to ongoing operations, while working with functional managers and/or the process owner
  • Documents final results and creates a summary of the project work including performance indicators
  • Provides change management via the Kaizen process
  • Responsible for developing the metrics for each area that has conducted a Kaizen Event
  • Responsible for ensuring that the metrics are implemented and monitored

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Skills
Master’s degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Health Care Administration or technical /engineering field.
Operations management experienced required
Demonstrated ability to conduct and interpret quantitative and qualitative analyses
Effective Leadership, project management and consulting skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Effective interpersonal skills
Proficient in Excel, Access, Word, Powerpoint and other company applications that apply

Experience
Minimum 5 years of experience in organizational and process development
Managed a minimum of 10 medium scale projects
Participated in Kaizen events

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications
Six Sigma Black belt required
