Working at the Whitney on a typical day involves several tasks in my dept. Most of them involve dealing with our visitors. I haven't learned anything new at The Whitney, but I have grown in my appreciation for art.
Management could use some organization training. In general, I feel that certain uniformed staff are treated unfairly and poorly, by both management and visitors, as well as other departments. Due to the lack of leadership from management, there is no synergy among staff. The museum lacks culture, which makes it difficult to work double shifts.
Having no culture and no real strong leadership would be the hardest part about the job. Most employees are left to fend for themselves.
I would say viewing the art and having and edge on up and coming artists is the most enjoyable part of my job.
