Administrative Assistant, Whittier, CA - August 22, 2017
A typical work day is filing student paperwork and making sure information gets put into the system as well as clerical duties. I learned that office administration can get very hectic, so you should always be ready to deal with situation and bring questions to your superiors if you need to ask them. It is always better to get some direction so you can do it right the first time rather than messing it up because you were scared to ask. The management there was awesome and they were great to me. I originally signed up as a work study job, and I was so happy that I got it because they actually made me feel like family, it was a great connection between everyone in the office. As always, there are some people who you may not mesh well with, but it is a professional environment so any bad feelings were normally addressed outside of work, or put on the back burner. The hardest part of the job is during the beginning of the semesters when people were signing up for classes because everyone has a sign up time and if the website crashes, they are coming to you. Normally you are able to get homework done during slow periods, but during that time period, you definitely can't get anything done. The most enjoyable part of the job, as I mentioned above was the family feel of the office. They would through parties for the holidays and decorate the office. All of the women who worked there were very respectable and kind.
