In 1968, the existing Rhinebeck store was closed and a brand new lumberyard was constructed north of Rhinebeck on Rte 9. The new building had 5500 sq. ft. of retail space. In 1980, business had grown and it was necessary to renovate the Rhinebeck store and more than doubled it in size to 13,000 sq. ft. of retail space. In 1985, only five years later, the business had grown so rapidly that the Rhinebeck store was again renovated and doubled in size to 28,000 sq. ft.

In 1989, Williams added a third location when it purchased the Greenport Building Supply Company south of Hudson, NY. The store was completely renovated and expanded. From 1990-92, the Rhinebeck store was completely renovated and re-merchandised to the current condition. New fixturing was added, and a great deal of additional inventory provided a tremendous selection of merchandise for our customers. The store is now the largest independent home center in the area.

In 1993, Williams jumped to five locations when it purchased both Bry Dain Lumber Company stores, a large store in Hopewell Junction, NY, and a small store in Highland, NY. The larger store in Hopewell Junction was completely renovated and expanded to its current size. The smaller store in Highland could not be expanded and was closed in 1995. – lessMore from ZoomInfo »
