Windridge is looking for qualified RN’s who are enthusiastic, patient and interested in working with sporty and athletic campers and staff. Campers are aged 8-15 and we offer them the opportunity to take lessons in tennis, soccer, horseback riding and a variety of traditional camp electives. Desired Qualifications

  • Licensed (in the appropriate state) as a licensed practical nurse, registered nurse, nurse

practitioner, or physician’s assistant

  • Experience with children and young adults desirable
  • Ability to assist in originating, updating, and/or monitoring health care, maintaining

records, and implementing the health care plan

  • Current CPR and first aid certifications
  • Desire to work and live in a camp community

Camp Goals
The Health Care Center Nurse is an integral part of the success of Windridge Tennis Camp at
Teela-Wooket. The nurse should maintain an atmosphere in the health center that meets the goals
of the Windridge experience- a camp where campers make a commitment to hard work, good
sportsmanship, and wholesome fun and laughter amidst a warm and friendly environment in a
caring atmosphere.

General Responsibilities
To be the health center nurse for the c& assist in supervising health and cleanliness standards;
work with camp director and staff; and help provide adequate physical conditions for all.
Specific Responsibilities

  • Ensure each staff member and camper has on file a health history and examination form,

as required.

  • Assist in setting up system for health screening for arriving campers and staff, as well as

a system for health screening for trips out-of-camp.

  • Conduct inventory of supplies and place orders when necessary, ensuring timely arrival

of supplies.

  • Establish and follow appropriate medical routines including recordkeeping in the daily

medical log, disposal of medical waste, managing and safeguarding medications, and
utilizing approved standing orders.

  • Coordinate coverage of health center.
  • Post hours for daily medications and health call.
  • Make appointments, when necessary, with medical/dental personnel in the community.
  • Check and issue first-aid kits.
  • Participate in and lead specific areas of staff training pertaining to camp health and

safety, CPR, first aid, and use of universal precautions for infection control.

  • Keep accident/incident reports that can be used for risk-management assessment.
  • Monitor health of all staff including support staff.
  • Monitor/evaluate camp procedures, facilities, and conditions and suggest modifications

that would create more healthful conditions in the camp.

  • These are not the only duties to be performed. Some duties may be reassigned and other

duties may be assigned as required.

Essential Functions

  • Ability to communicate and train staff in areas of camp health and safety and emergency

procedures, including use of universal precautions.

  • Ability to drive to health care center and emergency treatment locations.
  • Physical strength to lift/assist campers or staff in emergency situations or if needed for

health care needs.

  • Visual and cognitive ability to read prescriptions and health exams from physicians.
  • Ambulatory ability to get to remote locations at camp quickly.
  • Auditory ability to use telephone to communicate with health care center to set-up

appointments, discuss symptoms with physicians and receive information from
physicians regarding recommended treatment.

  • Visual and cognitive ability to observe and assess unsanitary or unhealthy conditions at

camp.
