Telecommunications is a dying business, it's difficult to keep a positive prospective when there is no job security.
Director - Human Resources (Former Employee), Little Rock, AR – June 3, 2013
Pros: competive benefits for the state.
Cons: long hours and heavy workload.
The company split in 2006 and I enjoyed the project lead on system setup of the new employee benefit systems, leave of absence system and pension systems. I thrive on a challenge.

Account Manager downgrade to Retention Call Center
Account Manager (Current Employee), Maitland, FL – May 30, 2013
Pros: see above
Cons: see above
The account manager role was good, I used to look forward to going to work (as did others) but 1 year ago this last March things changed. The environment was changed to a call center, the pay was cut drastically, the lunch hour went to a lunch half hour and many times lunch and breaks are cancelled. When this happens the company typically buys everyone – more... pizza so we don't leave our desk's and keep taking call after call. 3 seconds after the last call we get another and so on and so forth. Now, on the good days when we get breaks and lunches, any and all bathroom breaks are deducted from the breaks and or lunch. It takes 25 different computer systems (not exagerating) to do our job and partly because registration keys don't want to be invested in. So each and every key stroke has to be manually tracked by the employee that is getting a new call every 3 seconds. The lies the employees are being told to tell the customers are rediculous. And since every call is to be "1 call resolution" and we are supposed to get each customer on and off the line as quickly as possible without sacrificing the call quality is entirely a joke. Well that's the Typical Day!

Now, MANAGEMENT, or I should and will say MICRO MANAGEMENT. Have NO RESPECT for the employees and work them to death, don't care that they have families and emergencies that arise and are so ready to jump to invoke an "occurance" against the employee for being 1 minute late, or having to take child to ER or if the dog is sick or what have you.

Regarding CO-WORKERS, most of them have left the company for other positions at other employee friendly business that pay a decent wage. Oh, on a positive note I did receive a 1% merit raise this year. Just their idea of another joke.

The HARDEST PART OF THE JOB is going to that Maitland office 5 days a week, but I must say they are hiring people off the street because people from within know better. So, just imagine you get hired to learn a new job, possibly don't get breaks or lunches, are expected to work mandatory overtime and you get to learn 25 computer systems. A training class usually consists of approximately 15 people, 3-4 of the people usually make it to the floor.

The MOST ENJOYABLE part of the job is still trying to be identified by the remaining tenured employees. So come on apply for a retention job in the Maitland FL office with WINDSTREAM. – less

Enjoyable Company to work for
Assignment- Assigner (Former Employee), Dalton, GA – May 15, 2013
In my Five years at Windstream it has been a very enjoyable company to work for. The management team is very help full in anything that you would need help with. The hardest part of the job was with some of the techician's. At time's when you could not help them find the equipment that they would need. On a average day you will take around 60 plus phone – more... call's from techician's and be working order's for customer's at the same time. – less

productive and fun place to work. They had such perks as an internet cafe for the employees.
Customer Service Representative (Former Employee), Matthews, NC – May 12, 2013
Pros: advancement opportunities
Cons: shift managers not always available during your shift
The company had a revolving door of employees. The kept the culture vibrant. I had great interactions with management and got along well with my peedest part of the job. The hardest part of the job was keeping track of all theever evolving system updates. I most enjoyed assisting the customers with technical issues or billing issues

Accountant II/Financial Analyst II - Contractor (Former Employee), Fairport, NY – April 16, 2013
Pros: my management, though located out of town is very supportive and appreciative.
Cons: currently working as a contractor (no longer ft employee), looking to be done in june or so. have no healthcare at this time.
My typical day at work involves reviewing payment documentation submitted by Cash Applications Processors and recording all customer payments posted to multiple billing systems so that I can prepare receivables/cash journal entries at month end. In between, I am responsible for reconciling 4 AR clearing accounts - identifying variances and making corrections – more... as necessary - all the while, meeting strict deadlines. – less

Pros: work in an office envirement
Cons: benefits
A typical work day consist of pulling my work from my work que and handling customer issues and working between customer and vendors to resolve problems. I learned how to use work related software across various platforms to accomplish daily tasks and the hardest part of the job is being expected to handle assignment that i was never trained to handle – more... and not having anyone to help. The best part of the job was the flexibility in being able to work from home via VPN. – less

Field Technician ll (Current Employee), Nashville, TN – January 29, 2013
Pros: good pay great people
Cons: learning new proceedures
Hours 8 to 5 except when needed Overtime
Learn new equipment and programingof routers. The co-workers work well with each other. A real team effort.
The hardest part of the Job is that it seems quite often the proceedures change and everyone has to learn a new proceedure.

Pros: good healthcare plans and 401k
Cons: micro-managed
a typical day is meetings every morning and telemarketing when I am an outside sales rep. The company has implemented a micro-management style that combined with the meeting times takes away my true prospecting and appointment time. My co-workers are great but all feeling the change.

Challenging position with frequent changes in technology and ownership.
Facility Clerk (Former Employee), London, KY – September 19, 2012
Pros: was given a lot of training in each new position i moved into, they wanted you to know your job and be prepared.
Cons: the frequent selling of the company and changing of management and management styles.
My last position with the company allowed me to work with the outside service technicians. This involved working with techs all over the state needing my input to complete their job orders. This was very challenging and required knowledge of many types of cable, pairs, circuit, dsl and line information to get each customer's service installed. I enjoyed – more... the fact that it took my knowledge to allow the tech to complete his job. Teamwork was a big part of all the positions I held with this company. The worst part of the job which led to my leaving the company was the selling and mergers that took place over the last ten years of my employment. My last job was outsourced to another state leading to my unemployment. – less
