Very hard work. Go into it healthy and strong or get out. Be willing to work hard!
Commercial Tire Service Tech (Current Employee), Brunswick OhioDecember 30, 2013
Pros: free training. good guys to work with. overtime available if you are willing to take extra call.
Cons: very poor shop equipment. very slow to replace or repair equipment. no hand tools to speak of.
1. During summer, come in early, leave late. It's the nature of the business.
2. From knowing practically nothing about tires, in a short time I have become proficient at commercial tire repair and service.
3. I can't complain about management. When it's busy, you have to work and they have to instruct you. It's their job and that's what we are there – more... for. I do like that all the service managers at one time have done the service tech job.
4. Co-workers are great MOST of the time. Sometimes seniority goes to their head but not often.
5. Other than the obvious back breaking work, missing my kids sports events due to long hours is really hard.
6. Working with the guys in the shop is the most fun. It's like being on a football team all over again! – less

If you start working for Wingfoot, you will live out of your service truck and your family will never see you again.

Worst Job I've Ever Had
Maitenance Tech (Former Employee), Greenwood, laDecember 18, 2012
Cons: pay rate. hours management
Low pay rate for a mechanic. when they're slow they want to layoff and not give any hours at all. they want u to work when its convenient for them instead of working with u. u have to be waiting by your phone even when your scheduled to be off. get called out to be on call just because a co worker doesn't answer they're phone.

Agent (Former Employee), Fort Smith, ARJanuary 27, 2012
Pros: free coffee and tea, fairly relaxed work environment
Cons: distrustful, disrespectful, dishonest
This employer promised 3-4 month temp to hire. I was there 9 months and then let go. They never talked to me or gave me any reason whatsoever why the decided that my services were not needed any more. If one DOES get hired, you then have to wait for 90 days before benefits kick in. All for a starting pay of $9.50 an hour for full-time Wingfoot Agents. – more... Save yourself grief and pass this one by. – less
