Line Assembler (Former Employee) –  Forest City, IAMay 4, 2017
I would recommend that anyone take this job. It's decent pay, easy work, and flexible hours/schedule. All you need to do is be honest with them. I don't know what else to say.

I had fun at this job and the people were nice. The bosses didn't accept any reasons for missing work though. The jobs were easy and boring but the hours were good.

Job was ok, very fast paced, a lot of waiting for other people to do their job before you could and it was get it done now. Also, you get a lot of yelling from the people downstairs about your job.

I have worked in many departments at W.I.
Over the last 4+ years.... we used to have good dental
cost a little more but covered root canals... etc...
now the cost is down... covers cleanings and xrays...

Medical is not worth it ... if you have cataracts... and not medicaid or medicare eligible your are screwed... excuse my french...

The line sped keeps increasing... they want you to do more and more for the same amount of money...
Pros

Not recomended
Forklift driver/hand receiver (Former Employee) –  Middlebury, IN 46540March 25, 2017
If you work on the line, you might enjoy it. But in the receiving, parts laminating, and other specialty departments; they are beginning to fail and they no longer care about the employees. This has caused many employees to lose their drive to succeed, slack off on their work, become irritable, disregard the rules, and many want to leave.
Pros
Good pay, only if you work on the production line
Cons
Pay not comparable to other factories, moral is down, management suffers for many departments

Framer/Laborer (Former Employee) –  Forest City, IAFebruary 2, 2017
I liked my coworkers and the job was mentally stimulating. There were changes to management after I left, so i cant speak on that. It was a long commute, and that is why I left.

Overall not a great place to work
Cabinet Production/Builder (Former Employee) –  Forest City, IADecember 17, 2016
The hours were very unstable, hard to make plans for appointments and other things because some days you would only work eight hours and other days you could end up working ten to eleven hours. The employees on the line also had a very hard time resolving conflict which created a hostile work environment.
Pros
Given alot of small incentives such as holiday food checks etc.
Cons
Difficult to deal with employees

Boring and Difficult place to work
Cabinet Production/Builder (Former Employee) –  Forest City, IADecember 15, 2016
The employees were on edge almost every day about problems they had no control over and sometimes it caused the job to become difficult to tolerate. Many employees also had personal issues with other employees that cause conflict on the work line. The employees also did not have very good resolution skills because a small conflict would often turn to a bigger one due to the conflict resolution being poor.
Pros
Easy
Cons
Sjort breaks, very strict

Door assembly Dept. (Former Employee) –  Hampton, IA 50441August 25, 2016
Very hard physical work at times. Working on the line was

fun but lifting heavy doors didn't do my body any good.

The woman put in charge of our dept. was not a people

person. She soon forgot what it was like to be just a worker.
Pros
Money was good. Weekly pay.
Cons
heavy work at times, many injuries in our Dept.

Winnebago is a place to work a life time with great benefits and a small town culture. The company was able to survive the economic crisis due to quality, craftsmanship, and reputation.

Welder (Former Employee) –  Forest City, IAApril 11, 2016
Dont care for their employees. Management is extremely biased towards workers. It's all about making a profit for shareholders. CEO doesn't even live in the state!
Pros
Job security, no one else wants to work there
Cons
Terrible factory cleanliness.

General Laborer (Former Employee) –  Charles City, IAApril 2, 2016
I did not like the fact that when you needed help with something that nobody hardly knew anything about the job and that it made things very difficult to get through when you as a person needed to get your job done in a particular way.
Pros
kindness of people
Cons
short breaks
