Social Worker, Cullman, AL - September 11, 2016
I worked with families and their loved ones who were diagnosed with a terminal illness whom their physician felt had less than 3 months to live. I completed social service intake, and I was also the volunteer coordinator. I increased my ability to be companionate towards others going through a difficult situation in their life. My co-workers and I worked well as a team. I often went out with the nurses as we both felt this job was about working as a group and not as individuals. The hardest part of the job was when families were not ready to let their loved one die, and providing that emotional support when needed. The most enjoyable part of the job was when a family would ask me to pray with them and the family would tell me how my being there brought them comfort.
