This is a start-up trying to run itself like a large corporation. The culture values management and metrics above working products. This is essentially a sales organization with a tech product bolted on.
Co-workers include some great, talented people, all of whom are eventually squashed under the boot of micromanagement and horrible product ideas. There is no transparency across the business and often the heads of groups have no idea what's happening elsewhere.
Even the basics are not handled well. Management can't set up proper payroll or tax withholding. Insurance benefits get less good every year and often have hiccups where dependents are mysteriously removed from your plan, etc. For several months last year retirement withholding failed to go into retirement plans, and when the situation was rectified everyone lost out on the growth of an entire year's worth of 401K.
