A-Tisket, A-Tasket, Wolverine's Got-A-Gasket. Wolverine Advanced Materials, a business unit of EaglePicher Corporation, is a leading developer of gaskets, rubber sealants, OEM and aftermarket brake shims, and sound damping systems for the automotive, electronics, and other industries. It manufactures high-performance, custom-engineered sealing solutions for use in engines, fuel systems, transmissions, automotive A/C, industrial compressors, and other custom sealing applications. Wolverine has manufacturing and sales offices in Florida, Michigan, and Virginia, and exports to 29 countries around the globe.
Wolverine felt the ripple effect from the drop in car sales in 2008. In December the company cut almost 60 workers, which represented about 22% of the combined workforces at both of its Blacksburg (Virginia) plants. That same month the company, along with parent company EaglePicher, opened their new headquarters and technical center in Dearborn, Michigan. Wolverine will also house its administrative offices, R&D, and testing of sound damping and sealing technologies for its automotive customers, as well as commercial sales and marketing operations, at the facility.
The company uses 65 composites and more than 400 grades of chemically bonded elastomeric & viscoelastic formulation to create the materials used in its products to ensure bond integrity, durability, dimensional stability, temperature resistance, and multi-functionality. Gaskets are used as NVH (noise, vibration, and harshness) damping solutions for automotive, and NSV (noise, shock, and vibration) for consumer electronics applications. Wolverine is also a leading supplier of polymer-coated materials to gasket manufacturers worldwide. – less
