PSV valve mechanic (Former Employee), Greeley, COJuly 27, 2014
Pros: good benefits
Cons: poor managment, bad planning, unsafe working conditions
Good benefits, big company...Greeley division has poor upper management....not concerned about what is best for employees..poor preparation , little planning and experience for job tasks....Have very poor standards for people they hire. I observed numerous safety violations.....workers are unqualified for the positions they are hired for... would not – more... recommend. – less

I was a contract operator for ENI Petroleum. Wood Group was a respectable company with a solid safety culture.
Production Operator Level IV (Former Employee), Lafayette, LA.June 18, 2013
Pros: working 14/14 in the gulf.
Cons: being a contractor because of job security.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Wood Group. If I were down and out, I would definitely go back to work for them. Some companies you would rather not see again but everyone that I encountered here were professional and courteous. I loved the adventure of being an offshore production operator. Especially working in the field on unmanned platforms and – more... such. I learned a lot about what it takes to keep a facility running. It isn't as simple as many perceive. – less

Many opportunities around the world
Deep Water Production Operator (Current Employee), Lafayette, LAMay 10, 2013
You get out what you put in at Wood Group PSN. There are many opportunities in the oil and gas industry and Wood Group can provide an avenue to many of them. The harderst part of my job is being in the ocean for 14 days away from family and friends. The most enjoyable part of my job is that there are no mosquitos or other insects in deep water production!

Great company and opportunities
Senior Mechanical Engineer (Current Employee), Melbourne, VICJuly 28, 2014
Pros: global network of resources to execute projects
Cons: work relies heavily on projects available - gfc caused a big downturn in work
I worked as a Mechanical Engineer at Wood Group PSN starting as a graduate and working my way to a Senior Mechanical Engineer. There is good opportunities for career progression and to work on various projects around the globe. There are also some opportunities to work abroad, but not usually in the most luxurious locations.

The only downside is that – more... Wood Group PSN, like all other engineering consultancies, relies heavily on projects from other companies. Events such as the GFC caused many projects to be shelved and I had to see many good engineers and friends go. – less

Core Crew Electrical Technician - Bleo Holm FPSO (Current Employee), Offshore Aberdeen North SeaJune 18, 2014
Great team to work within and liasing with various different departments to expand my aptitude of the offshore industry. Day to day basis would be carrying out maintenance and fault finding on all aspects of electrical equipment. Feel fully comfortable within the role I currently hold and can happily rely on my co-workers for advice and assistance where – more... required. Very rewarding working well with everyone on board and achieving a resolution to any problems that arise from a day to day basis either big or small. – less

critical focus at all times on safety
WGPSN management maintained transparenty with its workers and
were at all times approachable
I mainted a great working and social relationship – more... with my fellow work
mates and all personal on the rig and still do.
The project comeing to finalization, but that is always reality.

Wood Group PSN - At a glance
Instrument/Pipefitter (Current Employee), AberdeenMarch 3, 2014
Pros: paid on time, opportunities dependant on job role.
Cons: poor management, nothing in place for individuals wishing to progress.
A large company with opportunities worldwide. I am thankful for my time here and have learnt a great deal.

Sadly my managers were reluctant to let me progress by attending further education while working.

I would still recommend WGPSN as a company to work for.

Offshore Electrical Technician
Offshore Electrical Technician (Current Employee), Aberdeen, SCTDecember 5, 2013
Pros: earning potential.
Cons: can be an unpredictable industry.
I find the offshore lifestyle gives me a better balance of life and more quality time with my family.
I've spent a lifetime working away from home for weeks at a time, in and out of the UK, living out of hotels and b&b's.
Working offshore is where i want to be for the rest of my career.
I feel i'm beginning my career path again, the stress offshore – more... is much less than i'm used too as I've come from a very stressful working environment.
The management skills I've generated over two plus decades has helped me form some good relationships offshore.

I can honestly say i don't find any part of it hard.
The most enjoyable part of it is i remember what part of the industry I've come from and that makes offshore work enjoyable in the scheme of things. – less
