Low profile position
Lead Field Technician (Former Employee), Bakersfield, CAJanuary 12, 2015
Pros: allowed to take control of my area
Cons: very cut throat department to work in.
The required all of us to be self starters. We were to check our assigned tank settings and make repairs if possible. If repairs couldn't be done on our own, we had to coordinate with other co workers so that the work could be done.

Working in the GOM for 2 weeks
Offshore Platform Mechanic GOM (Former Employee), Lafayette, LAAugust 30, 2014
Pros: food is good offshore, and lots of it, almost all rigs have workout equipment..
Cons: it is hard being away from your family for 2 weeks up to 6 weeks at a time...
get up every morning at 5 check out all equipment, do a little paperwork, eat lunch check on equipment, overall easy job unless everything breaks at once then you have to fly from platform to platform to work on different equipment. lots of ordering parts daily maintenance adding oil coolant etc...

Administrative Assistant (Former Employee), Lafayette, LAAugust 6, 2014
Pros: worked with new people, and coast guard and learned things that i never knew before in this type of work.
Cons: no permanent employment.
Typical day at work consisted of working with the SCAT files, handling any issues that would come up, i.e. Copier repairs, security badges issues, ordering special supplies for the SCAT Team.

PSV valve mechanic (Former Employee), Greeley, COJuly 27, 2014
Pros: good benefits
Cons: poor managment, bad planning, unsafe working conditions
Good benefits, big company...Greeley division has poor upper management....not concerned about what is best for employees..poor preparation , little planning and experience for job tasks....Have very poor standards for people they hire. I observed numerous safety violations.....workers are unqualified for the positions they are hired for... would not recommend.

I was a contract operator for ENI Petroleum. Wood Group was a respectable company with a solid safety culture.
Production Operator Level IV (Former Employee), Lafayette, LA.June 18, 2013
Pros: working 14/14 in the gulf.
Cons: being a contractor because of job security.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Wood Group. If I were down and out, I would definitely go back to work for them. Some companies you would rather not see again but everyone that I encountered here were professional and courteous. I loved the adventure of being an offshore production operator. Especially working in the field on unmanned platforms and such. I learned a lot about what it takes to keep a facility running. It isn't as simple as many perceive.

Many opportunities around the world
Deep Water Production Operator (Current Employee), Lafayette, LAMay 10, 2013
You get out what you put in at Wood Group PSN. There are many opportunities in the oil and gas industry and Wood Group can provide an avenue to many of them. The harderst part of my job is being in the ocean for 14 days away from family and friends. The most enjoyable part of my job is that there are no mosquitos or other insects in deep water production!

there was always work to do within the company, all the co workers were friendly and willing to help out. the systems I learned to use were, Mpower, Vantage, CAIRS, IMpact and all microsoft packages.

The most enjoyable part of the job was networking with people all across the contracts and learning about what goes on in the company and not just my job

An excellent company to work for.
Rigger/Scaffolder/R.O./Primary First Aid (Former Employee), Marlin Platform, Bass StraitOctober 27, 2014
Pros: salary, workmates, good supervision.
Cons: isolation, weather.
My time with Wood Group PSN was extremely rewarding as they were very supportive of the workforce and the supervision was fair and honest. The workday was always clearly planned out and we all knew what we had to do and the emphasis on safety was exceptional. I learned to work as a team in a large workgroup and to trust my fellow workmates to watch over me as I would watch over them. The hardest part of the job would have to be the remote conditions but these were always managed capably. The best part of the job was the satisfaction in seeing positive results for the work and effort put in by the team and as a workgroup, we all got along so well with never any friction, we knew we were all part of a great team.
