Productive and best place to work at.
Personal Banker/Teller (Former Employee), Houston, TX –
The hardest part of my job while employed at WoodForest was having the fear of someone attacking you or robbing the branch you worked at. By far this was the best place to work for because their benefits were great and the managers were awesome, there is also plenty of opportunity of growth within this bank.

I worked at Woodforest for a total of 3 years going from location to location. I found out that this type of bank was not for me.

Great working relationship with Walmart
MD and Frederick (Current Employee), Frederick, MD –
Pros: involvement with the community
Cons: marketing
Able to make it a fun and enjoyable work place. Learned how to review reports and make accurate decisions based on the numbers in the reports. Learned how to deal with different personalities as a manager. But overall, Woodforest is a great company to work for.

Fun Environment
Retail Banker (Current Employee), Alliance, OH –
Pros: winning free food.
Cons: pay raises nonexistent.
Marketing potential customers and challenging other branches to a contest. Friendly competition with other branches on a monthly basis to encourage teamwork.

Not a good employer
Retail Banker (Former Employee), Norwalk, OH –
Pros: insurance, pay
Cons: personal care, management
I worked for this company for too long. You are always promised that there is room for advancement but as a female there is not. Most of the managers and above are males that worked in the food industry as managers. Human Resources does not keep accurate records when issues are reported. They are open 7 days a week including holidays. The managment – more...  is not required to work those days. They also get paid 40 hours and most are lucky to be working 25 hours. They do not care if you have a family or need time off for things. I have personally heard our regional manager say that Woodforest is first and everything else in your life is second. They do have decent health insurance and pay is above normal for a bank. – less

Good place to work
LEAD RETAIL BANKER (Current Employee), Evansville, IN –
Pros: never boring
Cons: short breaks, can work nights and weekends
I really enjoy my time at work. It is a different type of bank, being in Wal-Mart. Much more of a fast-paced retail environment. There is always something to do. Typically, I run reports, make phone calls, market in the store, teller transactions and open accounts for new customers. In retail, you always have the 'bad' customers that just want to yell.

Fun environment with no opportunity for advancement and no extra incentives
Retail banker (Former Employee), Ravenna, oh –
Pros: flexible and fun work environment, job security
Cons: no opportunity for advancement, rude and incompetent customers
This is a good job for anyone wanting to gain some basic banking experience. They operate very different from a "real" bank but the basic concepts are the same. Environment is fun of your colleagues are goal and team oriented. Woodforest preys on second chance banking customers and credit criminals to make money

Very enjoyable learning experience for me
Retail Banker (Former Employee), Mattoon, IL –
Pros: rewards for meeting goals
Cons: hours and days required holidays, weekends
I enjoyed learning about banking while at Woodforest. We had a very small team so we were all close friends. I enjoyed working out problems with the customers and the routine of counting money.

Good pay and benefits with sacrifice of personal life and advancement opp
Branch Manager (Former Employee), Illinois –
Pros: compensation, freedom to grow business on your terms
Cons: lack of consistent focus, branch level experience, and ability to help from upper management
Good pay and benefits. Can be frustrating working with upper management. They tend to change focus quicker than other retail environments. Very little time away from work, late notice given to work late nights. Executive Level Management employs fear techniques in order to drive performance but does not give any tips with real substance. State level – more...  management frequently states " thats what we pay you for" when asked for advice on how to grow business. No branch level experience in upper management Illinois. Great place to make money while gaining sales and sales management experience. Very hard to make this a career. – less

Great bank with over all good ethics. Great company to work for.
Business Development Officer (Former Employee), Spring, TX –
Pros: customer satisfaction was important to the bank.
Cons: growth too fast, becoming a little more impersonal
obviously job security was a problem for me. They decided to eliminate my last position. After taking a personal leave due to family emergency. I was extremely loyal to this company, and would highly recommend it to prospective employees as well as customers.

not great
retail banker (Former Employee), indiana –
all training is on the computer. It is confusing they rush you through testing so you can be on the teller line. I was working with all young, I was asked to do some not so ethical things to cover for people who would be late or not do things they should of. I don't care for the "hoopla" they do. Most people just want to bank not play games.

Bad management and greedy corporation
Retail Banker (Former Employee), Garland, TX –
Pros: ok first job
Cons: where do i begin..
If you are trying to get your feet wet into the banking world, then this company is helpful in that manner. But overall, I would not stay too long, everything is a mess and managers and higher ups only look out for themselves.
