Woods Services is a private, non-profit organization that is licensed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The organization celebrated its Centennial in 2013 as a leading advocacy and service organization for people with exceptional challenges, disabilities, and complex needs. Mollie Woods Hare, a principal from the Philadelphia school system, founded The Woods Schools in 1913 as a special education day school with two simple goals—to advance the quality of life and standard of care for individuals with disabilities.
Today, Woods Services has broadened Mollie’s mission to serve more than 600 people of all ages and levels of care with a unique model that drives greater achievement for individuals – and best practices for the industry.
Woods operates a continuum of residential and day program supports for children, adults, and seniors diagnosed with autism, intellectual disability, developmental disability, brain-injury, behavioral challenges and severe emotional disorders. Many are also challenged by physical disabilities. Supports and services include special education, vocational training, campus-based work, community employment, rehabilitation, and life-skills training. Round-the-clock health care supports are provided, and individuals participate in myriad social and recreational activities both on and off campus. – less
