Great cause but poor leadership
Project Manager/ Event Manager (Former Employee), New york, NY – May 5, 2013
Pros: world visions cause, great virtual experience and products that were being offeree
Cons: managers and poor team atmosphere
I love the work of world Vision and the children and families that have been impacted by this organization. However my work experience could have been better with stronger managers and better job descriptions.

International Skills Trainer (Former Employee), N'djamena – March 8, 2013
While working with World Vision, I have been trained in several topics such as Sphere TOT, LCP TOT, DRR and many others. In addition to that, as member of HEARRT, I completed the curriculm for relief. It should be noted that I have trained local staff and in particular the HEA team in sphere , LCP as well as working with them on COVACA. Most of HEA – more... team are bale to write a CDPP and NDPP as well as participate to the management of relief interventions – less

Productive environment with employees dedicated to the goodwill of the world's poor.
Copy Editor (Volunteer) (Current Employee), Federal Way, WA – January 11, 2013
Pros: benefits. camaraderie. every employee has a single devotion to world vision's vision.
Cons: hr and the hiring process. pay.
As a volunteer, I am in the office only a couple times a week, but I have noticed that people who work for World Vision want to be there. The pay does not compare to a for-profit organization, but employees are dedicated individuals who are diligent in their attendance and effort.

World Vision serves the needs of the poor while helping to engage in partnership with churches and individuals in the west to steward the resources to
Area Director (Former Employee), Federal Way, WA – July 26, 2012
Pros: professional corporate offices in the greater seattle region, weekly staff chapel services and a positive faith based work expereince.
Cons: at times, the organization seems too large, with a corporate red tape approach to making key decisions.
World Vision US, is a leader in providing resources, aid and disaster relief throughout the world. Known for it's faith in action approach, WVUS provides an opportunity for it's staff and team members to actively become involved in it's ministry. Through events, social media and Team World Vision, I have enjoyed taking part as a staff member and a donor – more... to help serve the needs of the poor in the name of Christ. – less

Great place for those who care
Technical Liaison (Former Employee), Federal Way, WA – May 14, 2012
Pros: eternal investments in heaven
Great perks as a humanitiarian business. For believers in the God of the Bible, the idea that you are facilitating money, gifts, and frankly, love, to needy children, is wonderful! Safe drinking water where children have been dying from waterborne disease, food to refugees from wars, assistance to victims of natural disasters all over the globe give – more... you a sense of importance and purpose.

I learned Excel , database handling, supervision of telemarketers during my near 11 years at World Vision. – less

Important, fast-paced, sometimes stressful work
Donor Services Representative (Former Employee), Federal Way, WA – April 11, 2012
Each day held profound moments; a regular occurrence working for a non-profit, Christian, humanitarian organization as far-reaching as World Vision. Every moment between sign-in & sign-out at my call-center computer station, I would receive donor calls, as well as make outbound calls to further communicate World Vision's international work & need for – more... ongoing support. Being exposed to such a wide variety of ministries around the world, I received an INVALUABLE education about the realities of poverty & devastation occurring every day, and therefore the profound nature of the work completed by organizations like World Vision. Every applicant to any given department is considered with utmost care, therefore every co-worker was as, if not more passionate about our work. The most difficult part of the job was the knowledge of how monumental the need for financial support was/is in order to grow the ways the organization can help worldwide. Yet, because of the state of the US economy, it was both stressful & emotional to ask for donations from donors who were struggling to pay their heat & electric bills, let alone monthly donations.

World Vision was an extraordinary place to work, because every day I had confidence that my contribution was going toward funding/gathering supplies for truly-suffering people: children so long starved that their bodies were skin laid over tiny bones, building wells for communities whose people were dying of malaria & other curable diseases due to dirty water, giving those dying of HPV/AIDS the "luxury" of clean bandages & basic-care supplies, finding homes for orphans of parents claimed by AIDS, giving animals to families as both a food & business source...the list goes on and on.

Not a single day went by without my feeling emotionally exhausted, but supremely purposeful. – less

Not about the Money
Youth Outreach Worker (Former Employee), Tacoma WA – December 1, 2011
Pros: working to serving people for jesus christ
The overal mission and vision they possess is outstanding, but it can be difficult for your own employment permanency. They do great work across the globe and if you work for them, you should realize that it is a service to Christ, not to advance your own employment status

IT IS A GOOD PLACE TO START WHEN YOU NEED EXPERIENCE
FACILITATOR FOR THE YOUTH PROGRAMME (Current Employee), OKHAHLAMBA AREA DEVELOPMENT PROJECT – January 18, 2013
THE WORK INVOLVES WORKING CLOSELY WITH THE COMMUNITY BECAUSE IT IS FOR THE COMMUNITY. THAT IS GOOD BECAUSE YOU SEE PEOPLE BEING TRANSFORMED ESPECIALLY CHILDREN. I LEARN A LOT IN INTERPERSONAL RELATIONS AND HOW AN ORGANIZATION WORKS. I LIKED THE SPIRIT THAT THE WORKERS HAS TOWARDS THEIR JOB BECAUSE IT NEEDS DEDICATION AND LOVE AND A LOT OF COMMITMENT. – more... THE HARDEST PART OF THE JOB IS WHEN U DON'T HAVE A SOLUTION TO THE CHILDREN'S PROBLEMS AND HAVING TO ORGANIZE EVENTS FOR A LOT OF CHILDREN BUT ITS ALL REWARDING IN THE END WHEN EVERYTHING GOES RIGHT. – less

Good
Sales Representative (Former Employee), Mississauga – December 4, 2012
A typical day at work would include going door to door inviting people to world vision, asking customers to support a child for a dollar a day.

What I learned in this job is about World vision and what they do as a charitable organization.

Management was almost non-existant it was all independant work.

My co-workers were motivted and kept eachother – more... motivated to get more people to sign up for world vision.

The hardest part of the job was getting people to give their credit information in order to support a child, a lot of people didn'f feel comfortable.

The most enjoyable part was meeting new people. – less

I have learned that to achieve a company's goals employees have to work together. The management was highly helpful for all and it was very severe to deal with people who could not understand when conducting the research. The most enjoyable part of the job is team work.

– less
