Worthington Steel is looking for a Business Analyst in Columbus, OH. The primary role of the business analyst is to partner with local BU Leadership on base business diagnostic initiatives and develop plans for creative transformative growth across operations, supply chain, and commercial disciplines. Work as an internal consultant to identify, conduct, and analyze business diagnostics and harness best practices in order to establish current state, set fact-based goals, and identify potential value at stake for transformation initiatives. The person in this role must have a significantly high aptitude & experience to analyze both financial & operational data to determine root cause & $$ impact to the business for initiatives. This position will develop implementation planning, coach, mentor, and guide local team progress, and mobilize resources for the successful implementation of the transformation effort. This role requires a broad range of creative problem-solving skills, requiring data analytics excellence. This role is a high-visibility opportunity that will offer many chances to influence strategic decision making for the company. This position is expected to travel ~75% of the time (Monday through Thursday) to manufacturing facilities.

General Responsibilities:

-Establish deep relationships with fellow team members.

-Successfully integrate and drive value with our business unit partners, including colleagues ranging from production employees to executive leadership.

-Serve as a change agent to foster a high performance management culture at local facilities

-Timely completion of deliverables, milestones, and required tasks

-Identify and schedule transformation deliverables, milestones, and required tasks

-Collect, analyze, and interpret data to drive performance and fact-based decision making

-Ensure reports, reviews, and updates are fact-based, efficient, and results focused for all transformation initiatives

-Implementation of lean tools and performance management practices to drive daily performance

-Assist in the identification of operational, supply chain, and commercial best practices


-College degree in Engineering, Finance / Accounting or MBA preferred
-Must have the ability to understand and analyze revenue & cost drivers; Cost Accounting experience a plus. Experience in analyzing return on invested capital model and cost benefit analysis.
-Possess analytical ability to break down complex problems into manageable pieces, creative thinking, analytical/quantitative analysis and fact-based data collection.
-Advanced analytical capabilities using excel and a variety of data analysis methods to establish root causes. Working with Data Sets (ability to collect, group, and merge data to produce insights and facts)
-Strong oral and written communications skills to act as a "change agent: " Adept at building trusting relationships while motivating/influencing others to adopt new best practices through fact-based analyses/discussion. Must be diplomatic, but not conflict averse.
-Working with Ambiguity (ability to proceed without always being able to clearly see the next steps)
-Creative thinking, analytical/quantitative analysis and fact-based data collection.
-Self-starter that is adept at taking initiative and a proven track record of setting high goals for themselves, pursuing and obtaining them.
-Strong organization and multi-tasking skills.
-Highly skilled in Microsoft Office, specifically PowerPoint and Excel.
