The Electrical Engineer will perform a variety of basic to moderately complex engineering work in designing, planning and overseeing manufacture, construction, installation, operation, and maintenance of electric or electronic components, equipment, systems, facilities, and machinery. Responsible for electrical power distribution within the plant. Installation and start-up of new electrical systems as well as equipment upgrades. Supports a broad range of moderately complex projects (design, implementation, etc)

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Working knowledge of safety controls and be able to design and implement safety control
  • Trouble shooting of critical machine breakdowns
  • Machine control code modification, creation and documentation
  • Researches, analyzes, recommends and designs basic upgrades to machine electrical systems with current technology to improve machine reliability and efficiency
  • Responsible for overseeing startup and commissioning of electrical upgrades
  • Recommends and assists in developing basic preventative maintenance program of plant power distribution equipment
  • Instruct and mentor engineering and shop floor maintenance technicians
  • Assist in the identification and procurement of critical electrical spare parts
  • Direct outside contractors in performing electrical projects and repairs
  • Assists in the development and writing of bid specifications for new and upgrade processes and equipment
  • Assists in the evaluation of costs related to services, parts and equipment
  • Manages basic to moderately complex capital projects. Includes design, cost, personnel, equipment, functionality, regulatory/code compliance and time line management
  • Generates cost savings ideas, supports Continuous Improvement and supports facility goals

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field or equivalent training and experience
  • High level of electrical trouble shooting skills
  • Ability to program Programmable Logic Controls (PLCs), Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs), AC, * DC and Servo drives and other machine control devices
  • Project management skills related to tasks and capital projects
  • Must be able to multi-task and drive multiple projects concurrently.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems technology that will result in systems being upgraded as needed
  • Knowledge of plant level safe work practices and procedures
  • Knowledge of national electric code, UL, OSHA and other applicable regulatory requirements
  • Trained on advanced industrial electrical systems
  • Trained on high voltage electric
