Worthington Steel, a division of Worthington Industries, is looking for a Production Supervisor in Columbus, OH. The Area Manager directs the activities of a manufacturing department. This position ensures all production schedules, quality standards and plant goals are communicated and met while being responsible for the safety of all employees within the department. Assists in the hiring process and is responsible for succession planning within the department.
-Direct and coordinate employee activities to achieve plant goals while maximizing production.
-Use working knowledge of production process, machines and materials to train and evaluate production employees -and determine opportunities to make improvements where appropriate.
-Determines workforce requirements for department and assists with the hiring process for seasonal and full time employees.
-Maintains a continuous review of schedules, methods, standards or other production factors to ensure efficient operation while meeting plant goals.
-Must be able to work any shift.
-High school diploma or GED and 1-2 years supervisory experience
-Bachelor's degree preferred
-Experience with Lean Manufacturing practices
-Capable of managing and interacting with other according to the Company Philosophy
-Strong leadership skills
-Must have good verbal and written communication skills
-Computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office
-Strong problem solving and/or troubleshooting skills
-Demonstrated ability in decision making, analytical thinking, time management and motivation
-Demonstrated ability to be successful in a fast paced, changing work environment while looking for and implementing improvements in safety, quality and reducing overall costs
