Not a bad place to work, though pay could be better
Digital Media Manager / Web Developer (Former Employee) – East Providence, RI – September 23, 2017
I really liked my manager. He was very easy to talk to and understanding. He was in a tough place, having to ask for a lot of work for, in some cases, not great compensation. I understand, to a point, why he can't pay more even though I imagine he would. I left mainly to pursue opportunities to that paid more and had a more fair work/life balance. Otherwise the work was interesting, the company had some nice perks (free theater tickets on occasion, paid gym membership, paid for my cell phone), but it didn't make up for working well over my contracted 40 hour/week.
Good perks, nice co-workers, interesting projects
Compensation not in line with demands placed on the time of the staff

Staff is a mixture of young people and old-timers. Old-timers are there for life and most of them bring a lousy attitude, which brings down morale. Management is so-so. They tend to rely on consultants. It seemed like the consultants ran the show. Managers are pretty good doers - just not really great thinkers. Came across one manager who was a total bully - everyone hated him. Lots of right-wingers, too. Lol. Younger staff was hard working, good group of people, dedicated to journalism. Stepping stone type of station.

Good place to learn about tv news, but mediocre management makes things difficult. Very corporate directed. Learn what you can in a year and get out fast. Pay stinks, and doesn't match the cost of living in Providence. News Director micro manages everyone / everything. Cold personality makes her difficult to approach. Head of Engineering is an angry bully and berates people often. Not nice.
