Technical Specialist II (Pre and Post Sales) – Information Technology Services

The Technical Specialist II is a senior level engineering position supporting the technical pre-sales and post-sales of enterprise-class solutions. This position will primarily be focused on delivering engineering expertise to the Orange County market.

The Company is represented by the best of the best technical engineers and maintains many different skill sets including networking, security, storage, virtualization, wireless and VoIP.

Technical Specialist II responsibilities include:

  • Next generation firewall installation, including related RADIUS and Active Directory integration
  • Wireless controller and access point installation, including related RADIUS integration
  • Storage array installation, including related fiber channel and iSCSI integration
  • Virtualization installation, including HA and DR solutions
  • Working with customers to determine and analyze performance issues from the sources listed above and effectively explain findings
  • Project manage the engagement while managing changing client expectations and unexpected roadblocks

Technical Specialist II will also support the sales team in pre-sales efforts in the following manner:

  • Leading product demos for prospects and assisting the Sales team with presentations
  • Acting as the primary technical resource on prospect calls, addressing questions regarding the solution, installation and integration
  • Providing remote/onsite and over the shoulder training to clients and staff
  • Designing proof-of-concepts and presenting back to the client
  • Creating and maintaining client environment documentation
  • Contributing feedback to the help with growth of the services organization

Accountabilities Include:

  • Complete company and partner sales training and certifications
  • Increase technology acumen via engineering whiteboard sessions, vendor training, product demos, and industry seminars
  • Ensures customer satisfaction in every step of problem resolution
  • Tracks customer issues
  • Documents diagnostic steps while troubleshooting reported problems
  • Conducts extensive research to find correct solutions
  • Provides quality support to customer employing a high degree of customer service, technical expertise, and timeliness
  • Respond to customer inquiries in a timely manner

Desired Skills and Experience


  • The ideal candidate is intelligent, well presented, articulate, confident, honest, a positive outlook, proactive and eager to learn
  • Enthusiasm for travel within Southern California and approximately two trips per year out of California
  • 3+ years of relevant pre-sales support and/or technical experience, demonstrating exceptional customer relationship skills
  • High degree of IT knowledge and experience
  • Extensive experience with Windows Server operating systems and the ability to confidently troubleshoot technical issues
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • General industry knowledge of technology vendors, applications and trends

  • Knowledge of virtualization
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows server operating systems and Active Directory
  • Knowledge of network and systems security
